Debora was born "under the jurisdiction of" New Paltz, New York. She was baptized in the Reformed Dutch Church of Kingston, New York, on 27 January 1717. The church record names her parents as Hendrik de Joo and Grietjen Wamboom. Witnesses to the baptism were Stoffel Wamboom and her aunt, Marytjen Wamboom.[1]

She married Petrus Ostrander on 19 February 1749 in the Kingston Reformed Dutch Church. The marriage record gives her name as Debora Dijo.[9]

Simeon, born at Hurley on 12 December 1754, baptized 5 January 1755 at New Paltz, New York, and died 16 January 1755.
Simeon, born at Hurley on 26 December 1755, baptized 27 January 1756 at New Paltz; a Revolutionary War soldier, he died January 1778/79 [sic] while a British prisoner in New York City.
Debora apparently died before November 1759, when her widower Petrus Ostrander remarried. [11]
