Great work on your profile. We have the same surname. I wonder if there is a link somewhere down the line. I have been doing this for a couple of years and found out that I have ties to most everyone through the Barbados link. Jacqueline Dobson
It has records of Dobsons going back many generations.
I am in the process of GedCompare'ing a 4000+ rec file. I have analyzed/analysed tge file and it Hangs together, with it's Family records. However, in Gedcompare, I am forced to Match or Reject on the basis of Name, birth and death. Gedcompare shows No family relationships on the side of the Gedcom file. What does this mean? Does Gedcompare not recognize the family records of the gedcom file? Or will (once I finish reviewing 4000 records), Wikitree will accept the new entries PLUS their respective relationships, that are specifified in the Gedcom file. ???
Because of the way the messaging service works at WikiTree, Azure didn't get notified about your questions. A greeter might notice it as we attend to our duties like I did but there's no guarantee. I had stopped by to send a courtesy e-mail to see how things are going. One of our mentors created a tutorial for the GEDCOMpare process that answers most of your questions. I found very helpful and hope that you will too. Are you enjoying WikiTree so far? Have the tips in the New Member How-Tos been helpful?
Please do let me know if you have any questions about how WikiTree works, no matter how small. My rule of thumb when I started was to search for an answer for five minutes, then reach out to my Greeters, and then resume searching. I might have found the answer before they got back with me but they sometimes offered a different way of doing the same thing which was easier.

P.S. Did you discover that the tags on your profile are clickable links to a page of other people who have that tag? They also control the information which is included in the activity reports which you receive from WikiTree. You can add more, up to 20 total, or delete some if you are receiving irrelevant information.

A warm welcome to WikiTree. You are now a member and can add your family to the big tree!
Click here to start with our New Member How To Pages. They will save you time, energy and frustration as you add your family profiles.
I hope you enjoy WikiTree as much as I have. You never know when you will find a lost family member or ancestor. Or maybe find a hidden family secret about an ancestor. Genealogy to me is like being a detective looking for clues into the past.
Please let me know if you have any questions. I'm always happy to help!
David ~ WikiTree Greeter
PS. Sometimes links don't work in emails. If that's happened to you, check the public comments on your profile as the links will work from there.
