Dorothy features in the Visitation of Hertfordshire of 1634 (p. 62 of the Harleian edition), in which she is presented as the daughter of William Downes of co Salop, the husband of Robert and the mother of William Halsey, the armiger and holder of the Great Gaddesden property in 1634. [1]
