DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with John by comparing test results with other carriers of his ancestors' Y-chromosome or mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with John:

Welcome back to WikiTree, John. I hope you discover as much about your family as I have about mine over the last several years.

Check out the How-to pages for some quick tips on working with both the Wiki pages and our other members. There is some great information in those pages.

If you have questions about how WikiTree works, I'm here to help. Let me know by replying to this message or sending me a private message.

Hi Debi

1/ Thomas and others requested I unlock Ginty 29 some months ago. I was not in a position to do so at the time and am unsure of how to do this . I did have a look to compare different versions and there was a big difference! I did not have time to go through in detail and was unsure how to communicate this. I have a little time over the next few months and will try. Happy to unlock if I do not have to go through all the differences.

2/ How does Ancestry match with Wiki?

3/ I have changed my email to [email address removed] also.

Best Regards John Robin Ginty (Ginty-29)

Thanks for your note, John,
  1. My guess is that Thomas wants you to adjust your privacy level (represented by the red lock in the upper right corner) so that he will be able to see your profile in relation to those of your ancestors. To do that you will need to lower your privacy to either "Private with Public Family Tree" or "Public Biography and Family Tree." To do that, on your own profile, click the red lock. When the privacy page opens, click the little dot to the left of the privacy level lock that you would like to have. Which one you chose depends on how much you want people to see about you. Once you've ticked the dot, scroll down to the big green box that says "Set New Privacy Level". The words are a link, so click that to save your choice.
  2. There is no automatic matching between Ancestry and WikiTree. WikiTree profiles sometimes come up as Hints in Ancestry but that does not link them together and there is no automatic updating. To update WikiTree profiles with data from Ancestry, the GEDCOMpare process or the WikiTree-X tool can be used. Those links will give you some more information about both.
  3. I see that you have changed your email address though I can't see the new one. WikiTree's comment and private message system automatically takes care of using the updated email address. For your own privacy, I suggest editing your reply above to remove the email address.

Please let me know when more questions arise. I'll be glad to help,

Debi

Hello John!

You are now a confirmed member of WikiTree! Thank you for volunteering.

Wow!!! You're the 29th Ginty profile on Wikitree! I bet your 'cousins' on Wikitree will benefit greatly once you add your insightful collaboration, sourced research and first-hand knowledge.

Have fun and ask for help if you need it! WikiTree members are always eager to offer guidance to a fellow genealogist.

If you need additional help, our Mentors Project is a friendly group of volunteers who are glad to assist you with WikiTree-specific problems.

Welcome to Wikitree John!

The initial email from us has helpful links that get you started on WikiTree, which is not like any genealogy site you’ve ever used.

WikiTree is different because our goal is to have one profile per person, and that means we all work together as a BIG collaborative team!

What brings you to WikiTree? Do you have research you’d like to share? Are you interested in how your family fits into the big tree? When you confirm your email address, you’ll have an opportunity to Volunteer and tell us about your genealogical interests.

  • Once you choose to Volunteer, one of our Greeters will be happy to confirm your membership, and you’ll be on your way!

Welcome to the Family, we’re really glad you’re here.
