Hi, Jimmy,

Thanks for taking the Pre-1700 Quiz!

Because pre-1700 ancestors are shared by many descendants, working within the projects which coordinate them is essential. You can learn more about joining the community in How To #3 and in the Project FAQ.

Use the Pre-1700 Projects list to find one which best fits your research focus, whether time period, location, or special event. Read the goals and tasks of the project and join if it is a good fit.

Let me know if you have trouble finding projects which fit your focus. Click my name, then ask in the comment section of my page.

Hi James,

This is a courtesy e-mail to see how things are going. Are you enjoying WikiTree so far?

Have the tips in the New Member How-Tos been helpful? Most of us still have some questions after reviewing them.

I'm here to help with issues and questions about how WikiTree works. Click my name, then ask in the comment section of my page or send a private message.

PS If you get a "Page Not Found" error when clicking WikiTree email links, you can often find a working version in the public comments on your profile.

PPS Did you discover that the tags on your profile are clickable links to a page of other people who have that tag? You can add more, up to 20 total.

Thanks for signing the Honor Code, James! I hope you discover as much about your family as I have about mine over the last several years.

Check out the How-to pages for some quick tips on working with both the Wiki pages and our other members. There is some great information in those pages.

If you have questions about how WikiTree works, let me know and I will find answers. Just click my name, then ask in the comment section of my page.

P.S. If links do not work in an email from WikiTree, try them from the comment section on your profile page.

James:

You forgot to add the "Q-" in front of the M242 DNA test result. It should "Q-M242". This is very important as this identifies the Haplogroup and separated you from the other major Huff/Hough group which is in the I-M243 Haplogroup.

The Q-M242 Haplogroup and DNA matches identify you as being in the Huff group descended from Dirck or Derrick (PAULUSZEN) Hoff from Holland. Descendants today use either the Hoff, Huff or Hough spelling.
