Biography

Maria Junge, daughter of Hans Junge and Gesche Dolling, was born 28 Oct 1864[1] in Germany.

Maria immigrated to the United States with her family at age 18. The family originated in Lansheide, Schleswig-Holstein, departed from Hamburg on 24 May 1883 aboard the "Polaria", and arrived in New York, New York on 13 Jun 1883. Steerage passengers traveling were: Hans 51, Gesche 46, Maria 18, Gesche 17, Peter 14, Anna 9, Lena 8, Heinrich 4, and Emma 6 months.[2][3][4]

Maria Junge and Hans Nicolaus Hennings (1868–1952) were married 14 May 1890 in Vinton, Benton County, Iowa.[5] They had two children:[1]

  1. Alma, b. 22 Sep 1894, d. 8 May 1975, m. Carl Brunssen, 11 ch.;
  2. Arthur, b. 10 Nov 1904, m. Orpha Wents, 3 ch.

Maria died on 17 Dec 1945 in Keystone, Benton County, Iowa.[1] She is buried at Keystone Cemetery in Keystone, Benton County, Iowa.[6]
