Hello, Sharon!

Congratulations on certifying to work on pre-1700 profiles! It’s VERY IMPORTANT to read and understand the Help:Pre-1700 Profiles page. These profiles for deep ancestors are shared by many, and collaborating on them works best if we all follow the guidelines in the certification quiz.

Primary sources should always be added to pre-1700 profiles at the time they are created. If you don't have a source for a pre-1700 profile, it would be best to ask for help in the G2G forum before creating the profile.

Hi!

Congratulations, you've been a WikiTree member for a month! We're glad you're here. A few tips to help you dive in even deeper:

Check out Beyond the Basics of WikiTree for a guide on some of our more advanced features such as Projects, Categories, and Merging.

We're very active on our social sites and we have an excellent blog where you'll find our monthly newsletter as well as tips, interviews with our members and guest posts from others in the genealogy community.

As always, I'm here to help if you have any questions!

Hi ,

Now that you have had a little time to try WikiTree, there are a few more features you may find useful.

Ideas on what to include in a profile can be found in Styles and Standards, including some tips on writing biographies.

If you need to describe an event, an heirloom or a location relevant to your research, you may like to learn about Free Space Profiles.

Lastly, sometimes you'll run into unresponsive profile managers. We have a process for resolving those unfortunate situations.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask via my profile page.

Guy ~ WikiTree Mentor / Leader

Hi Sharon,

You are now a member of WikiTree! Please help us build one Collaborative Global Tree, which means only one profile per person. It's important that no duplicates are created and profiles are properly sourced- if you have pre-1700's ancestors to add please read our Pre-1700 profiles info.

To help you get started, view this introductory WikiTree video.

For a list of Member benefits, see Community Members page.

We also have Mentors who will be glad to answer questions.

I am returning to researching my family tree after many years of doing other projects, traveling, working, etc. I am now retired and can devote more time to research. My main interest at this time is my Lee line. I had major losses a few years ago and lost all of my records, everything I had compiled. So I am starting over. But I think it will be fun.

Hi Sharon,

Welcome to WikiTree!

Please read our Honor Code to see what we're all about.

Next, explore the drop-down menus in the upper right corner.

As a guest, you can search for ancestors and participate in G2G, WikiTree’s forum.

If you would like to help with WikiTree's mission to grow a free worldwide tree, choose the "Volunteer" option, then post a comment on your profile about your interest in genealogy, and what you would like to add to the tree.

Let me know if you have questions.
