Hi!

Congratulations, you've been a WikiTree member for a month! We're glad you're here. A few tips to help you dive in even deeper:

Check out Beyond the Basics of WikiTree for a guide on some of our more advanced features such as Projects, Categories, and Merging.

We're very active on our social sites and we have an excellent blog where you'll find our monthly newsletter as well as tips, interviews with our members and guest posts from others in the genealogy community.

As always, I'm here to help if you have any questions!

Guy - Wikitree Mentor

Hi ,

Now that you have had a little time to try WikiTree, there are a few more features you may find useful.

Ideas on what to include in a profile can be found in Styles and Standards, including some tips on writing biographies.

If you need to describe an event, an heirloom or a location relevant to your research, you may like to learn about Free Space Profiles.

Lastly, sometimes you'll run into unresponsive profile managers. We have a process for resolving those unfortunate situations.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask via my profile page.

Hello,

Thank you for signing the Honor code. Collaboration, accurate information and good sources are the basis for a great WikiTree.

Hi Michael ,

I see you are working on merges, you may want to review Matching and Merging FAQ to understand your responsibilities in doing merges.

Remember, we do not want to merge away another profile that may not be an exact match, which could mean that this is a different individual and not the one you mean to merge with. You will also want to review all other family members for potential duplicates and review any conflicts in parents. If you have any questions, just let me know. Thank you for your contributions to WikiTree's global project to create one World Family Tree.

Glad you Volunteered!

You are now a member of WikiTree! Please help us build one Collaborative Global Family Tree, which means only one profile per person. It's important that no duplicates are created and profiles are properly sourced- if you have pre-1700's ancestors to add please read our Pre-1700 profiles info.

To help you get started, view this introductory WikiTree video.

For a list of Member benefits, see Community Members page.

We also have Mentors who will be glad to answer questions. Regards, Lee

I have several unsubstantiated family tree issues I would love to work out. My family has been in America for a very long time, and my paternal line leads back to a common ancestor of Dr. Henry Louis Gates of PBS's "Finding Your Roots" series. I would love to firmly establish that connection, as well as my mother's claims of her paternal connection to Jamestown planter John Proctor.

I am also interested in the Sons of the Revolution, the Sons of the Union (and Confederacy I expect...) and other connections to my African lineage.

Hi Michael!

Welcome as a guest to WikiTree! We're growing a FREE worldwide family tree, striving for ONE collaborative profile for every person.

A couple suggestions to get you started:

1. Feel free to ask a question at our G2G forum .

2. Our help pages, top right, have all sorts of useful information.

If you would like to contribute, click the volunteer button and leave a comment here on your profile to let our greeters know. You should include a little bit about how you plan to contribute to the tree.

Good luck growing your branches, and thanks for offering to help with our shared tree :)
