Biography

Daniel Miller was born 13 May 1752 in Derry Township, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania, and died 16 March 1819 in Rockingham, Virginia, United States.

Daniel's first wife was Barbara Long. They were married on 4 April 1780 in Dauphin County, PA. Barbara and Daniel had two sons: John Long Miller born in 1781 and Daniel Long Miller born 16 January 1784. Barbara died two weeks later on 31 Jan 1784, a maternally related demise. Daniel, a widower with a newborn and toddler son married soon after his first cousin: Anna Garber. The shared grandparents of Anna and Daniel wereJohann Michael Mueller and Susanna Berchtal.

Daniel and Anna together had 11 children between 1785 and 1800. In 1813 they migrated from PA to Rockingham County, VA.

During the year 1813, Anna Miller Garber Miller and Daniel Meyer Miller moved from Derry Township, Dauphin County, PA, to Rockingham County, VA. "Moved" meant walking with farm animals and their few belongings carried on a wagon pulled by their horse or mule. Anna and Daniel and their large family were accompanied by Conrad Sanger and his wife Anna Brillinger Sanger and their several children. Also on the trip was another brother-in-law, friend John Flory, and his wife Catherine Miller Garber, sister of Anna Miller Garber. John Flory and Catherine had ten children. -- [Landes-150|
