Biography

The grand entrance into this world for Dennis Richard Seitz came at Lockport (NY) Memorial Hospital on May 17, 1965, about six weeks before his due date. The early arrival wasn't the only surprise for his parents, Dennis Roger Seitz (Seitz-1073) and Janice Miriam Gow Seitz (Gow-466).

Instead of a strapping, healthy 10-pound baby boy the doctor had predicted, two 5-pound babies arrived -- Dennis Richard and twin sister, Darcie Jean LaFever (Seitz-1074).

Denny was named after his father and one of his father's mentors - Richard Dunford, a high school teacher who later worked as an administrator for 37 years at Gannon University in Pennsylvania.

Denny and his siblings - Darcie, Jamie (Seitz-1075) and Julie Brummer (Seitz-1076), grew up in Newfane, a small town in Western New York state.

Denny's ancestry is English, Irish and Scottish, mixed with a hard-to-track German line on his paternal side. Some of his ancestors settled in Canada initially, before making their way into the U.S. Many remained in Canada.

Denny's passions have always been sports, writing and helping others. For more than 20 years, Denny worked as a sports writer in New York, Ohio, South Carolina and North Carolina. Then, he pursued his Masters degree in Counseling and became a counselor.

Now, his obsession is genealogy.

Denny married the former Barbara Brown on Aug. 20, 1988. They have two children.
