Research Notes

Robert's exact date of birth is unknown, but estimated to have been c. 1387, based on the fact that his parents married c.1386 and he was their eldest child.[3][4] Although the Scots Peerage cites a papal dispensation for the marriage of Robert and Johanna, daughter of the duke of Albany, dated 27 September 1397[2], Robert would have been no more than ten years of age at that time. It was not unusual during this period for parents to contractually arrange a marriage for their minor children which was then consummated when the childen reached adulthood. The first written evidence that a marriage had actually occurred is in a charter dated 1409 from the duke of Albany to Robert, in which he refers to Robert as "filius suus" (my son).[2] Robert would have achieved his majority by this time, being about twenty-two years of age, and it is likely that the wedding took place shortly before this charter was granted. Stewart-13626 and Stewart-9374 appear to represent the same person because: same name, same children, same time frame, same location
Robert Stewart (of Innermeath) was the Lord of Lorn not both

The Lords of Lorne & Innermeath (one word) did not have a "small farm in Stuartville".
