Samuel Stone immigrated to New England as a child during the Puritan Great Migration (1621-1640).
Birth: 1631, England – Death: Sep. 27, 1715
Samuel Stone was baptized Feb 4 1630/1 at Nayland, Co.Suffolk, England, the son of Gregory Stone (1590 - 1672) Lydia Cooper Stone (____ - 1674). (Lydia was the widow of Simon Cooper when she married Gregory Stone). His age at death on his gravestone coincides with a birth just prior to this baptism date.
He emigrated to New England with his parents and uncle Deacon Simon Stone about 1635, although their ship is not known. They initially settled at Watertown where his father received freemanship on 25 May 1636, and then later settled in Cambridge.[1]
His first wife was Sarah Stearns (1635 - 1700) of Watertown, married at Cambridge,MA on Jun 7,1655.[2] Sarah Stearns made freeman Newtowne (Cambridge), May 1657; after death of father, received land in Cambridge Farms (Lexington); subscriber to meeting-house 1692.
Children (by first marriage):
Samuel Stone (1656–1743)
Isaac Stone (1659–1690)
Sarah Stone Converse Hills (whose first husband was Edward Converse),
His second wife is known to have been the twice-widowed Abigail (Carter) [Fowle] Walker[6] (1648–1718), though no primary record of the marriage has been found; the union is to a degree confirmed by Samuel's mention, in his will, of "my Dear & Loving wife Abigaill Stone".[7]
Samuel died on September 27, 1715, in Lexington, Middlesex, Massachusetts[8].
Burial
Samuel was interred in the Old Burying Ground of Lexington, in Middlesex County, Massachusetts; the inscription on his gravestone reads:
HERE LYES THE BODY OF DEACON SAMUEL STON AGED 84 YEARS & 7 Mo DIED SEPTEMBR THE 27 1715 The memory of the Just is Blessed
The stonecarving is the work of the Lamson shop, per the Farber Gravestone Collection of the American Antiquarian Society.[9][10]

PMs, I'm currently at work on this profile for the PGM Project's Research Team -- starting out with clarification of Samuel's second marriage, to Abigail[l] (Carter) [Fowle] Walker. (The research and editing will probably spill over into the wives' profiles.)
Did he get married on the same day he died?
Are there sources for anything about this person outside of Ancestry.com trees?
