Biography

René Thibodeau was born around 1706 in Pisiguit, Acadie, Nouvelle-France. His parents were Pierre Thibodeau and Anne-Marie Bourg. [1][2]

He married Anne Boudrot around 1731. [2]

They had 8 known children according to Stephen White: [2]

  1. Alain Thibodeau
  2. Anne Jeanne Blanche Thibodeau
  3. Alexis Thibodeau
  4. Charles Thibodeau
  5. Rosalie Thibodeau
  6. Marie Marguerite Thibodeau
  7. Étienne Thibodeau
  8. Joseph Thibodeau

Children that do not appear on the list by White:

  1. Pierre Thibodeau

In 1755, during the Grand Dérangement, René and Anne were transported with their children to Massachusetts. [2] Five of their children were married in exile in Massachusetts between 1761 and 1764.

In 1763, René and Anne were listed on the census in Massachusetts with one son.[1][3]

René and Anne Boudrot were recorded arriving in Yamachiche in 1767 with their son, Joseph. Also recorded as arriving there in the same year were their sons Alain, married to Nathalie Hébert, with their children Marie-Anne, Jean-Baptiste and Joseph; and Alexis, married to Marguerite Dupuis, with their chidren Charles, Marguerite and Marie-Anne. The latter were settled on lot #1100 in Yamachiche. It was also noted that they were all originally from Pesiquid, Acadie.[4]

Other sons went in 1767 to Trois-Rivières, Québec, Baie Ste-Marie (Nova Scotia) [3]

They are both recorded in the church marriage act of their son, Joseph, in Yamachiche on February 19, 1776. [5]

So we need to change the death location for René and Anne. They are both recorded in the church marriage act of their son, Joseph, in Yamachiche on February 19, 1776.

All done, changed both of their dates and bios. Added the link for the son's marriage. I did not find a burial record for Rene or for Anne in Drouin. Thanks for finding the Yamachichi article, it can be used for other families as well. Best wishes, Cindy

Thibodeaux-22 and Thibodeau-493 appear to represent the same person because: same name, birth date and family links: Thibodeau is the preferred last name for the Acadian Project. Thanks!
