Biography

I was born in the 1960's in Houston, Texas to Leon "Gene" Tucker Tucker-19507 and Carolyn Hay Hay-5994 . My genealogical research is on the Tucker and Hay families along with their allied lines.

Tucker

The Tucker family line is known to have arrived in the Virginia Colony in the early 1600’s from England. Migration to what became North Carolina occurred in the late 1600’s where ancestors remained until the late 1700’s when migration into places that became Tennessee, Kentucky and Missouri occurred. The line continued migrating south and ended up in Arkansas and Texas.

Allied families explored are the Jones and Kennedy, Steed, Meyer and Schultz, Moran, Rhodes, Herndon and High. Within these allied lines there is English, Irish and German ancestry.

A notable individual within these families was the western film actor Ty Hardin Hungerford-1477 who is related through the Moran line.

Hay

The Hay family line was Scottish and it remains unknown as to when the first of this line came to North America though it is suspected the event occurred around the time of the American Revolutionary War in Boston, Massachusetts. This line migrated into New Jersey and came to own several glass factories that produced bottles and flasks that today range in price and value. Many can be found in museums and private collections.

My great grandfather, Ralph Hay was the first to immigrate to the southern United States. He and the men before him and after him were glass makers by trade. His wife, my great grandmother named Abbie Gail Robert’s, had an ancestry similar to my Tucker line where they were early day Virginia and Maryland colonists from England. The Robert’s family arrived in Texas shortly after it became a state.

A notable individual in the Hay family was Andrew Kessler Hay Hay-6929 who had a position in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Allied families explored are the Roberts and Tinsley, Maugham, Blunt and Young lines all of English descent.

Hello Susan,

Congratulations on certifying to work on pre-1700 profiles! It’s very important to read and understand the Help:Pre-1700 Profiles page. These profiles for deep ancestors are shared by many, and collaborating on them works best if we all follow the guidelines in the certification quiz.

Primary sources should always be added to pre-1700 profiles at the time they are created. If you don't have a source for a pre-1700 profile, it would be best to ask for help in the G2G forum before creating the profile.
