Biography

U.S. Southern Colonies Project logo
Christian (Unknown) Page was a Virginia colonist.

Christian[1] was born probably before 1720.[2]

Marriage

Christian married Exol Heath Page (abt.1715-1779) before 22 April 1736. They had eight children. [3]

  1. Elizabeth "Betty" or "Betsy", (about 1735 or after 1738-after 1783), married John Lee Jr.
  2. John (about 1741-1804), married first Edith "Evie" Cauthan, second Hannah Pace
  3. William (about 1743-1815), married first Ann England, married second Elizabeth Whitt
  4. James (about 1745-1797), married Mary Ann England
  5. Benjamin (about 1750-before 1827), married Anna Wright
  6. Mary (about 1752-before Sep 1821), married Joseph Brockman
  7. Robert (about 1754-1827), married Rachel Brockman
  8. Joseph (22 Apr 1756-1805), married Unknown

Death

Christian died after April 2, 1787, probably at the home of her son Joseph Page.[3] Her husband's will gave her name, and left her the use of his property with Joseph to inherit at her death, provided he lived with Exolheath for the rest of his (Exolheath's) live; presumably Joseph would continue to live with his mother to protect his property rights and take care of her.[4]

Research Notes

Removed the child, Lucy Page who married Johnson Hodges, as she is actually the daughter of Robert Page, supposed brother of Exolheath Page. Added Elizabeth "Betsy" Page as a daughter. She married her cousin John Lee, son of Lucy Page who married John Lee. Lucy, mother of John Lee was a supposed sister of Exolheath and Robert Page.[1] Removed ID number for incorrect John Page as son.

The last name at birth for Christian Sally Innes is unsupported. Her marriage date of 22 Apr 1756 in Goochland County, Virginia, is not sourced. I believe this is confused with the marriage of Exolheath's grandson by his youngest son, Joseph, who was Axel Heath Page, born 3 Apr 1785, died 20 Aug 1840. He married "Sally" Sarah T. Innes 12 Apr 1807 in Amherst County, Virginia. They moved to Lafayette County Missouri.[2]

The list of children given in the bio excludes Joel and Jess Page as sons of Exol Heath and Christian Page. I have not removed them, but I did remove duplicte profiles for William Page, neither of which was the same as their actual son that I believe was named William.

No reliable source has been found to connect Christian, who married Exolheath Page to Gorshuch, or Richard Gorshuch as her father or Sarah Shelton as her mother. If you have such a proven source, please discuss it before adding the again. It would need to also show her married name of Page, to prove the relationship, for example, perhaps a specific marriage record with place, book and page, or a deed record with location, book and page showing Christian Page as an heir to a Gorshuch, along with other such heirs, if any.[2]

Gorsuch-489 and Gorshuch-3 appear to represent the same person because: Clearly the same person.

Innes-547 and Gorshuch-3 appear to represent the same person because: I don’t know where “Innes” comes from, but many sources list Christian Gorsuch or Gorshuch

Gorsuch-489 and Gorshuch-2 appear to represent the same person because: Clear duplicates, slight difference in spelling.

I have the following evidence: Christian Sally GORSUCH (daughter of Richard G GORSHUCH and Sarah SHELTON) was born in 1718 in Goochland, Goochland, Virginia, USA. She died on 02 Apr 1787 in Goochland, Goochland, Virginia, USA

Thank you for the information, Jason. Please either enter the parents yourself, along with the source for what you have; or send the source to me, and I will enter it.

I am a descendent of Christian, and have never seen a decently-sourced assertion of any maiden name, including Gorsuch.

Strongly recommend removing this factual assertion unless it can be sourced, lest it lead to even more viral confusion.

Innes-547 and Unknown-407911 appear to represent the same person because: Looks like a duplicate. if you agree let's merge

Exolheath Pages wife-1 and Innes-547 appear to represent the same person because: EPW-1 is an unnecessary placeholder profile. Exolheath's wife was named Christian (probably not "Innes" as stated in the existing profile, but at least that profile otherwise identifies a specific person). I'm also not sure if James, this profile's son, is a verified son of either Exolheath or his wife.

The maiden name "Innes" is either revolutionary research that should be cited, or is an online fabrication. There have been books written about this family, and I've never seen a maiden name for Christian asserted anywhere until now.
