Alexander Walker emigrated to Virginia.[1]
By Gay (Leonard) Brown:
Alexander is said to have married c. 1643 at Virginia to Frances Unknown, but proof is lacking.[2]
Children of Alexander and Frances:[2]
Note: There is no proof for these children, but the first three are included on circumstantial grounds.
Alexander is said to have died c. 1670 at St Peters Parish, New Kent, Virginia,[3] but there is no documentation.
Alexander is said to have been born c. 1614, at Nottinghamshire, England.
Note: He is also said to have been born at St Peters Parish, New Kent, Virginia. (??) Doubtful, as Jamestown was settled in the 1610's and 20's. New Kent County was formed from York County in 1654, and there were no counties at all before 1617, when the four original "shires" were formed.[4]
In searching the Jamestown Muster of 1624, there is no Alexander listed. In fact, the only Walker at Jamestown in the 1624 Muster was Roger Walker, who was a servant to Mr. Daniel Gookines.[5]
The ebook by Terry Drake, The History of the Drake Family and the Times They Lived ..., claims to trace several families' ancestry to English royalty and uses some questionable sources, such as Wikipedia, Ancestry.com and WikiTree! [6] This book contains the same implausible information that Alexander was born in 1614 at St Peters Parish, New Kent, Virginia. It contends that he married to "Frances Elizabeth Warren, born 9/3/1612 at Ripple, New Kent, Virginia."[6]
In another source, Alexander is said to be the son of Samuel Walker and Elizabeth Serrill.[7] He is also said to have been born c. 1621 at James City County, Virginia Colony, the son of Thomas Walker and Elizabeth Serrill.[2]
There may be some DNA evidence to support this last set of parents. A descendant of William Walker obtained Y-DNA analysis which supports the claim that William was the son of Alexander and the grandson of Thomas Walker and Elizabeth Serrill.[2] However, the evidence also excludes William as a nephew of Gervase Walker (b 1566 married Ealifia Mary), and Gervase is thought to be a son of Thomas Walker.[2]
It is obvious that Alexander was not born in New Kent County, Virginia. It did not exist until it was formed from part of York County in 1654.
It does appear that Alexander lived in York County, although when he arrived there is not clear. He purchased 94 acres, 17 chains, of land from Tho. Smith in York County, which was recorded on 18 March 1662. The land was part of a "grand patent" to Major Joseph Croshaw for 700 acres dated 2 March 1653.[8]
Until his parents have been confirmed, it is not possible to know where and exactly when he was born.
Alexander was born in 1614. He passed away in 1675.
Captain Alexander was born in 1614. He passed away in 1675.

The profile for Thomas (Walker-2337) has his proper given name as Samuel (with Thomas preferred) and is in a proposed merge with Samuel (Walker-59314). I just wanted to document that of fathers on his profile, since the Walkers of colonial Virginia have been a bit of a puzzle.

New Kent once formed part of Charles River County, one of the eight shires into which the colony of Virginia was divided in 1634. And though New Kent is one of the oldest counties in Virginia, it was first mentioned in the records of the General Assembly in the year of 1654.
Maybe check "New Kent County Virginia History" presented by the New Kent Historical Society. http://www.newkent.net/history.html
This profile needs a clean well-sourced narrative biography that outlines whatever we do know about him (with inline source citations for every fact claimed) -- and the rest of the discussion should be moved to Research Notes. Fletcher - it looks like he may be your direct ancestor. Are you willing to take a crack at fixing it? If not, will one of the profile managers take that on?

Thanks, Liz
Thank you.
Also, Alexander Walker is listed as having a grievance against Gov. Berkeley in 1676 - p 233, http://www.ancestraltrackers.net/va/resources/english-duplicates-lost-virginia-records.pdf
They are both deceased at about the same time.
Thank you!
