Hello Irene

Just to let you know that Henry Wilson (https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Wilson-10956) is not a child of Newrick Wilson and Harriet Barker. I sent for the digital birth certificate and he is the child of Fanny BARKER and William Smith WILSON. I will unlink him.

Thanks. We do the best we can with lots of pieces of information missing. I'm so pleased you took the trouble to correct this.

Irene

Hi Irene,

Thank you for your commitment to the England Project and its goals in 2023! Together we are making English WikiTree profiles the best they can be!

I'd like to share our end-of-year 2023 Newsletter. You can read it here: England Project Newsletters. We hope you enjoy reading about what we have achieved in 2023!

On behalf of all the England Project Leaders, we wish you a peaceful, productive and enjoyable 2024!

Best wishes,

Ian, England Project Leader

Hi Irene

Thank you for the additional information on the Lintern family tree. i would like to point out, however, that Walter, Evelyn, Bill and Dorothy never lived at Shildon - the house they lived in during the 1939 census (ref 2. in your amendments) was 12 Victoria Street, Willington so the information from Kew is slightly skewed, I fear!

Kind regards, Colin Dent

Thanks for letting me know. We are dependent on whatever the web sites say. I've made the correction - which you could also have done with your personal knowledge. There's probably a Victoria Street in Shildon too so there's no knowing without the personal information. The mistaken place name that really grates is Hedworth, Monkton and Yarrow to be found on FindMyPast - and lots of others.

Thanks again.

Hi Irene

We are delighted to announce a new Profile Improvements Team namely the England Tangled Families Team which will be formed by merging the Arborists, Gedcoms and Unknown Teams,

As we know tangled families are created from old GEDCOM’s which cover many generations resulting in the need to merge profiles and having to disconnect others together with finding unknown spouses and family members.

The merging of the existing three teams into one exciting new team will hopefully reduce duplications and definitely will increase collaboration between you our experienced and dedicated members.

Team Leader for the England Tangled Families Team will be Fran Weidman who has agreed to manage the team bringing her excellent knowledge and experience from creating and managing the Unknowns Team together with Fran’s five year membership of the England Project.

Currently as a member of one or more of the named teams we are asking you to join our new amalgamated Tangled Families Team and letting us know by contacting Joan Williams or Malc Rowlands through Discord Messaging, England Project Google Group or Private WT Message if you want to join our new team.

Kind regards

Joan and Malc

I’d be pleased to join the new team though I don’t do Discord. I think I do see the England Project Google group messages. My patch is County Durham and bordering areas of the North Riding and Northumberland. Let me know what to do next.

Hi Irene

On behalf of the England Project, I would like to thank you for your commitment to the project's goals. Every single contribution you make helps improve English profiles!

The England Project Leaders like to touch base with each of our members periodically to make sure everything is going well. This is our formal annual check-in with you.

Are you happy to with your current project team choices? Would you like to join any other teams?

Also, we would really like to hear which team is currently your highest priority. If you are a member of more than one team, could you please rank them from highest priority to lowest? Thank you! If you don’t see yourself as being part of a team, please let us know.

We also welcome any feedback on things you would like to see the project do more of in the future.

I look forward to hearing from you. Please respond to this message by posting a reply below or sending me a private message.

Hi Maddy,

I'm really enjoying working on County Durham profiles. I am part of their team but it's very low key and nobody interacts with me. It's okay but I see other teams do things differently. I do connecting, sourcing and unknowns as well as fix problems and merging when necessary.

I'm also a part of the England Unknowns Team. I've done quite a bit in the past and continue to pursue this when I come across Unknowns as part of my County Durham work. So ranking would be County Durham first, then Unknowns.

If you think my skill set (such as it is) would be useful in other areas, I'm open to suggestions.

Regards, Irene

Hi Irene, many thanks for getting back so promptly. I’m glad to hear you are enjoying plugging away at those unknowns etc - it’s valuable and skilled work and much appreciated. We are hoping to improve communication through the county teams later this year. It’s certainly true that some are more active than others. Many thanks for everything you have been doing. If you enjoy connecting, I know Fran and Carol are always on the look-out for help in the connectors team. I enjoy that part of the monthly England project challenges too,

Best regards Maddy

Hi Irene,

I've posted a photo and added some sources on the profile for Hawken-269. The Hawken family emigrated to Canada when Francis was about four.

Hi Irene,

Thanks for taking the Pre-1700 Quiz!

Because pre-1700 ancestors are shared by many descendants, working within the projects which coordinate them is essential. You can learn more about joining the community in How To #3 and in the Project FAQ.

It looks like the England Project would be a good fit based your current contributions to the WikiTree. Review the project page to learn how to collaborate with the project members.

Have questions? Click my name, then ask in the comments on my profile.

Hi Irene,

You are now a confirmed member of WikiTree! Thank you for volunteering.

Don't forget to ask for help if you need it! WikiTree members are always eager to offer guidance to a fellow genealogist.

In case you haven't seen it, our G2G Question of the week is:

Aside from a person, what has been your absolutely best source'" of information?

If you need additional help, our Mentors Project is a friendly bunch of volunteers who will be glad to assist you with WikiTree-specific problems.

Have Fun!

Fred

Hi Irene,

A warm welcome to the WikiTree family! The initial email from us has helpful links that will get you started on WikiTree, which is not like any genealogy site you’ve ever used and it is FREE. WikiTree is different because our goal is to have one profile per person, and that means we all work together as a BIG collaborative team!

What brings you to WikiTree? Do you have research you’d like to share? Are you interested in how your family fits into the big tree? When you confirm your email address, you’ll have an opportunity to volunteer and tell us about your genealogical interests.

Once you volunteer, one of our Greeters will be happy to confirm your membership, and you’ll be on your way!

We’re really glad you’re here. More importantly, have fun growing your family tree and connecting to persons with the same interest.

Ludwig :)
