Hi Charlie! It was good to see your name pop up on the day's Wiki Genealogy Feed.
Just a bit of extra help in looking for Bartletts.
There is a Bartlett_Name_Study page, at Bartlett Name Study and
Listings of many, many Bartletts around the world on the Category:Bartlett_Name_Study [[1]] pages.
In running the Bio Check tool on profiles connected to me, I've been getting a number that come up with a style error for "Wrong level heading = Find A Grave =" and I see that you've been making those edits.
There are only a few standard first level headings that should be used such as Biography, Sources and Acknowledgements.
A FindAGrave heading is not typical (at any level) since it is not normally acceptable to simply copy over all the user-generated data from another genealogy site and paste it as part of a profile. It's perfectly adequate to simply to put the link to the FindAGrave page in the sources list, or use it as a citation for info in the Bio. Then people can go there and see what it has to say. I personally don't consider FindAGrave an actual source except for the headstone & cemetery info, for the most part.

Thankyou, Charlie, for adding John Johnson as son to Maverick Johnson. According to Wikitree Relationsip Finder, "Albertus and Charlie are 7th cousins twice removed, both being descended from Richard Rich." We have common ancestors on other lines as well.
I am currently researching the families who lived in Rocks Village (East Haverhill, MA). I was raised in Merrimac, less than two miles from Rocks Village. I hope to visit again in November.
Nellie's 4th great grandfather appears to be Samuel Getchell, Jr (1657-1710), my 6th great grandfather, making Nellie my 5th cousin, twice removed. I need to document some of the linkage from Nellie to Samuel.
Charlies, you are correct, we seem to be distantly related, with common ancestry to Elisha Purdy, Jr., married to Elizabeth Haines. My direct ancestor, their daughter, is Rebecca Lynch Purdy married Abraham Gabay Crasto. Her sister, Mary (Purdy) Lawrence, married Silas Lawrence.
How Rebecca Lynch Purdy ended up marrying Abraham Gabay Crasto is something of a mystery to me, but I have focused on this marriage and their children. Abraham's adoptive father, David Gabay Crasto, was a Sephardic Jew from South America, arranging for imports from the plantation system in Suriname. With David, there is a rich history available. He first worshipped in the NY Temple for Sephardic Jewry, and after a dispute over the burial of his wife, seemed to lapse away from that faith. He began work in NYC as a grocer and a builder, including some work in Westchester. This must have brought him in touch with Elisha Purdy Jr. HIs son Abraham and Rebecca were married in a Christian ceremony at the age of 17. With the oldest daughter with them, they returned to Surinam where the family was accepted into the Jewish faith. Their business there concluded, they returned to NYC where they resumed life as practicing Christians. It is an odd story, well documented by Jewish Archives in NYC. Abraham at his death was entirely American, having struggled with the Know Nothings during the course of his life as a politician.
The Purdy family is an interesting one, too, of course, and perhaps most interesting is the fact that Elisha Purdy Jr's father and uncles were torn apart by being on different sides of the American Revolution, with the Loyalists expelled from the country after the war.
My best to you on your genealogy studies. - Tom
Thanks for taking responsibility for Orphaned Profiles. This is a courtesy email to share the After Adopting Orphans FAQ which explains the special attention adopted profiles will sometimes need from their profile managers. One quick way to find the profiles you adopted is by searching your Contributions List for the word "adopted" and "manager." You can find a quick link to your Contributions List in the My WikiTree dropdown menu.
If you will be working with any profiles needing GEDCOM cleanup, the AGC tool can help with formatting so that you can concentrate on the research. You can read more about it in the WikiTree AGC FAQ.
Can you add your source for the rank you added to https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Shipley-125. I have found nothing to indicate that he was in the military. Please remember to add your sources when making changes to profiles. Thanks for your help.
I see that I copied the prefix from Find A Grave: Memorial #9687782. You are correct. It is in not sourced in that location. Thanks for catching it. I will remove the prefix.
Thanks for adding the Profiles tag, Charles. We have a program to help you learn how to create biographies that honor your ancestors. If you are interested, you can find out more about that on the Profile Improvements Project (PIP) Voyage page.
Getchell-250 and Getchell-898 appear to represent the same person because: I was in the process of entering information I had into Getchell-898 when I discovered Getchell-250
