Hi Kaitlyn,

There is a profile for George Butter (Butter-219); it is an orphaned profile but has your name at the bottom. I am wondering if you know approximately who this George Butter is; do you have any location or approximate location for him or any guesses as to dates? I work on the Butter and Butters profiles and am trying to clean up unsourced and unconnected profiles. Any clues would be appreciated.

Thanks so much, Ginny Fields (Butter-100)

Hi Kaitlyn,

Thanks for collaborating on the profile of Hans Sturm (https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Sturm-864). I believe that Hans is my 10g grandfather. If you also descend from him, then we are likely related.

You recently added the name Jean and death date/place for Hans. When adding info to a new or existing profile, it's important to cite the source(s) of the info. This is especially important when adding or modifying pre-1700 profiles, such as Hans' profile, since reliable sources are required based on the more stringent guidelines for creating/modifying pre-1700 profiles. Can you please provide the source(s) of the information which you added?

Thanks!

Hello Kaitlyn,

You are listed as the source for the birth and death dates for Mary Ann Kissel (nee Nuwer):

https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Nuwer-97

I'm curious if you might share your source for this info? Mary would be my 4Gr Grandmother.

I'm trying to solve a mystery on this line.

It looks like Joseph Kissel married two women named Mary

1. Mary Ann Nuwer 2. Mary Anna Huber

With Mary Ann Nuwer passing away in 1855 - the same year my 3x Gr Grandmother Francis Kissel was born, I'm not sure which of these two Marys was her mother. I have Francis's birth / baptism record from St. Mary's which appears to list Joseph and Mary Nuwer as the parents with a birth date of 2/2/1855 and I see Mary's death date is listed as 2/2/1855, so perhaps she passed away in child birth?

Also interesting in the 1855 census I find a Joseph & Mary Kissel listed (taken 9-JUN-1855 so presumably after Mary Nuwer's death) which lists the following:

Joseph Kissel Mary - Wife Lewis Ambrose Child Joseph - Child Mary - Child Elizabeth - Child Francis - Child

It shows Joseph as being in the country for 5 years and Mary (presumably Huber) for 13. So I'm wondering if Lewis, Joseph, Mary, Elizabeth are children of Mary Huber's perhaps from a man named Ambrose who passed away widowing her and she later married Joseph? Interesting that Francis is also listed here as an Ambrose, but maybe it was just a lazy census taker...

In following census records, 1860, 65, 70, 75, All of the kids still living in the hose list their names as Kissel

So, my best guess here is this:

Mary Huber married a man named Ambrose and had 4 children (Lewis - 1843, Joseph 1845, Mary 1846, Elizabeth 1849) and her husband passes away sometime before 1855.

Joseph comes to the US around 1850, meets Mary Nuwer. They marry and she passes away in child birth with Francis in 1855

With both Mary Huber and Joseph Kissel now single they marry have have 2 more children (Henry 1856 and Magdalene 1858)

Curious if you have any info around any of these families?

Thanks,

Tom

Tom,

Thanks for your note.

Yes, I believe Mary Huber's first Husband was Louis P. Armbrust. (that is the spelling I am going with, but it is spelled multiple different ways in the records) This comes from their first son Louis's death record that was on File in the Lancaster historical society and I have copied on to his wikitree profile at https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Armbrust-48. The whole family is in the 1850 census record in New York City, ward 17, New York, New York, United States https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:MCBF-QN5?from=lynx1UIV8&treeref=LT2G-YBR.

It has been a while since I looked at this so I will have to review to see if I have a record for Mary Nuwer's death.

Hello :)

i've got some ehrenberg ancestors in the rheinland, on my mother's side. the geography is just close enough that we may share a distant surname-ancestor on that line.

my main tree is on familysearch; if you have an account there, i can send you a link to the relevant "branch"?
