Like Cristina's reply, this should be a reply to Abby's original post, or this one belongs in the discussion of the Chinese line.  Making it a follow-on from mine is a bit confusing.  For other reasons (Princesses and Cowboys linked)  I wondered what I had struck.  Presumably, the reference is to an incident in Chinese history.  No offence intended to either member; just a bit of housekeeping.

Is it possible to move the two replies where they belong?
Thank you for asking,

Two Chinese Princesses departed China in the 1800s due to (her word) a new Female running the Great Walled City, who was killing people. They were given money and jewels by the Holy man who raised and taught them, and told to board an English Ship which would take them to London, England. They were given guards, 2 or 3 , I forget, but were dropped off in California and told to wait for a ship which would them the rest of the way.

Despite the likely hood of an Indian attack they bought a large carriage, and maps and guns and decided to cross the US. Both were young and head strong, their names which came down to me were Cherry Blossum and Lotus Blossum. They were first or second cousins. Forgive me, I am 83 and as so many before me I wondered if this could be correct, I first learned the story before my granddad Pool died. Perhaps 9 or 10, but it always was the same and very sad. My DNA confirms the story and that bothers me that I could have ever doubted their word.

They made it across America as far as the "Great River", her words passed down but the crossing was not in place and they prepared to stay there a day or two. Several Horse men appeared and took their guards out somewhere and the guards came back and got the money and gave it to the horsemen and were seen leaving.

They, alone, were tied up and taken across the river somewhere else. Both were abused, and sold  and Lotus Blossum ended up in Montgomery County, NC owned by Mr. DeBerry who built a house to keep her in. DeBerry's family told him to get rid of her or else, then Robert Mills a neighbor lost his wife, while giving birth, and she was given to Robert Mills. Mills had a child by her named William Robert Mills born in 1852 who engaged to marry Jeriah Ellen Callis (sd Kellis), court records exist. Ellen's dad refused to permit the marriage to take place, but the unmarried Ellen gave birth to my grandmother Malona Abigale Callis/Kellis aka Tony, seen in 1880 census of Montgomery County, NC. I heard these facts from my grandparents Pool.

William Robert Mills went on to have 2 wives and several children whose DNA will match some of my own. A story about this was written in a newspaper in the late 1950s, and I was given a copy which was lost to time. The story was either in Stanly County, NC or in the Montgomery County, NC newspaper.

I have been told I am a descendant of Ghangis Khan by 23&me which can only come by way of my much abused and very literate ancestor from the Great Walled City. She wrote to the US Government and never got a reply. She would make wall hangings in Chinese and sold some of them and try to reach out to others to tell them where she went and what happened.

She said her mother was a Concubine, the daughter of a Chinese General. She gave her mother's name which was trodden down by time, both names gone to time.

She told her son and others she loved them very much and she loved Robert Mills.

The cowboys come into the picture as being there to save them, a movie, which never happened. She was mostly treated with respect with some exceptions.

Her blood line was mostly Finnish Ural, which is now 1/16 my own bloodline with some Asia blood. Her intellect was with out question and I think of her when I am told I was born very bright with a great memory. I think of her now and then and wish I could have been there for her. My dad looked like the Emperor Pu when a young man. I have several other Royal lines but she was the closest to me in time. IKen Kublai Khan Poole am proud of my inheritance, my IQ was about 140 and I kiss no butt, and I am American.

I, was born mostly Scot,  among mostly Scots along the Great Pee Dee River with white hair, white skin, green eyes. IKen Khan
Thanks for that lengthy update, Carolyn. We have a book titled "Myths and Legends of China" and a hard-cover of the Monkey story, which I had already read in paperback.  But these princesses were historical fact.
Prince Philip and I are 18th cousins twice removed
16th GGS of Robert II of Scotland.  Phillip is my 14th cousin from this very line.
The day Queen Elizabeth II died I came to wikitree to discover she is my 14th cousin our sharing Mary (Harley)Throckmorton about 1460's as 13th cousin. What cousin am I to King Charles III if his mother is my 14th?

TY Sheila (Curenton Original spelling Cureton) Flynt related maternal side.
Charles would be your 15th unless you also had a connection to Phillip.

The Queen Elizabeth II and I are 7th cousins three times removed

Well,

  • Philip (Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Glücksburg) Mountbatten is my 17th cousin.  Our CA's are Joan (Beaufort) de Neville LG (our 16th GGM) and Richard (Wydeville) Woodville (our 16th GGF).
  • Klaus Georg Wilhelm Otto Friedrich Gerd (von Amsberg) van Amsberg is my 28th cousin, 4X removed.  Our CA's are Ásta Gudbrandsdotter (my 31st GGM) and Olaf Haraldsson (my 30th GGF).
  • While I am 22 Degrees from Jan Sobieski (4-8-3-8), his (daughter-in-law?) Maria Klementyna (Sobieska) Stuart is my 10th cousin, 8x removed.  Our CA is John (Plantagenet) of Gaunt KG (my 17th GGF).

Family connections:

  • 23 Degrees from Henrik af Danmark (1-4-7-9-3) - However, his wife's daughter (I think?) Ingrid Victoria Sofia Louise Margareta (Bernadotte) af Danmark is my 17th cousin.  Our CA's are Joan (Beaufort) de Neville LG (16th GGM) and Ralph Neville KG (16th GGF).
  • 23 Degrees from Liliʻuokalani Kapaakea (1-2-3-8-7-3)
  • 23 Degrees from Grace de Monaco (1-7-4-9-3) However, Rainier Louis Henri Maxence Bertrand Grimaldi is my 15th cousin.  Our CA's are Anne (Boleyn) Heydon (my 14th GGM) and Henry Heydon KB (my 14th GGF).
  • 26 Degrees from Te Atairangikaahu Paki (7-5-4-8-3)
  • 30 Degrees from Bhumibol Adulyadej (5-2-2-4-7-5-6) - However, through his Agar family line my CA is Richard Guilford KG (my 13th GGF).
  • 38 Degrees from Sālote Tupou (4-8-5-2-9-8-3)

Oh, funny you should ask because I "broke" the connection to Queen Elizabeth! My 7th great grandfather's parents are now unknown. (O'Grady-724). I had him as a son of another John O'Grady who actually is connected to royalty.

I know for a fact my surname is connected to nobility, which is fun! There's Standish O'Grady, 1st Viscount Guillamore.

I am 17 degrees from King Jan Sobieski, the closest one. I  am 20 degrees from Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh. More specifically, I am 11th cousin once removed of Princes William and Harry, sons of the late Diana Spencer Princess of Wales and Prince Charles, Duke of Cornwall.

I live in Hawai'i, so I checked another connection. I am 23 degrees from Queen Liliʻu Loloku Walania Kamakaʻeha (Liliʻuokalani).

My closest on the list is Jan Sobieski, at 17 degrees; however, Prince Philip's late mother-in-law, Elizabeth Angela Marguerite Bowes-Lyon (The Queen Mother), was my 9th cousin five times removed!

Prince Philip and I are 17th cousins, 1x removed because William Douglas-422 is my 17th g-grandfather and the Duke's 16th.
When searching 30 generations, I see that have 308 common ancestors to choose from for other degrees of cousin to choose from both sides of my family. Some BIG surprise x-great grandparents can be found through the powerful Relationship Finder that can't be found with any other web app on the internet. I'd like to see it search even further back in time. :)

My Royal Great Grandparents on WikiTree:

Much to my great surprise, all these ancestral lines magically appeared through Relationship Finder 30-generation comparison with Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Glücksburg-1 yielding 308 common ancestors. What a great suggestion!

Most of these are just somewhere around the 30-generation limit of the Connection Engine of each string of royalty ancestors, with a line of great Greats in-between them and me on both my father’s and mother’s sides.

This is just a start; I could now list hundreds of direct royal ancestors I’m just discovering.

Robert Stewart-972 King Robert 3rd of Scots is 19x great grandfather of Ed Bishop-3754.

Walter FitzAlan-573 Ist High Steward of Scotland is 27x ggf

Henry III Plantagenet-167 is 22x ggf

Sir William St_Clair-21 "1st Lord Rosslyn" is 24x ggf

Robert Bruce-517 the Competitor, 5th Lord of Annandale 23x ggf

Guillaume (Guillaume V) le Grand, Comte de Poitou, Duke of Aquitaine-18 is 28 ggf (and his father and grandfather, presumably)

Æthelred Wessex-29 King of England is 28x ggf (wonder why RF won’t connect his father and grandfather (Alfred the Great) in the line)

I could go on all day extending this list, thanks to WikiTree magic.

I really appreciate that the team has selected a variety of royal families from many different parts of the world to include in this challenge!

My closest connection was Prince Philip at 16 degrees, going thru his mother-in-law the Queen Mother, so surprisingly to me, my connection with her is only 14 degrees (but no blood relationship)

16 degrees from Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh Mountbatten,

19 degrees from Te Atairangikaahu Paki,

19 degrees from Jan Sobieski

22 degrees from Grace de Monaco

22 degrees from Henrik af Danmark

23 degrees from Claus van Amsberg

25 degrees from Liliʻuokalani Kapaakea,

25 degrees from Bhumibol Adulyadej,

37 degrees from Sālote Tupou
