This week in the Connection Finder, we're featuring distillers and brewers, starting with Joseph Seagram.

Featured alongside him are other distillers and brewers:

Who are you most closely connected to? If you're one of the 24.3 million of us who are connected to each other on our big tree you can check with the Connection Finder.

You can check for shared ancestors with the Relationship Finder. Are you a cousin to any of them? Your Relationship Finder Quick Links page (see your profile pull-down menu under "Relationships") has quick links for several notable groups.

Special feature: Check out how you're connected to other Distillers by using the green MyConnections button in the upper right hand corner of the category page. Browse related categories like Brewers and Maltsters.

Let us know how you're related below! If you want to share your connection on social media with cousins and friends, click the "get shareable image" below the results, e.g. Nearest Green and Jasper "Jack" Daniel. Then just upload it along with the URL of your direct connection. (Please refrain from sharing your connection on the featured profiles themselves, though. It clutters conversations on research and collaboration. Thanks!)

Help us with next week's feature: US Senators, to commemorate the recent passing of Bob Dole. Help us choose and improve profiles for it.

I didn't see this in time to propose the inclusion of Arthur Guinness.

My closest connection is to a distiller not mentioned in the above list:  My 1st cousin thrice removed Col. E. H. Taylor, Jr. was one of the earliest Franklin County, Kentucky bourbon distillers, following closely behind Scottish immigrant pioneer distiller Dr. James C. Crow (1789–1856). One of the last bottles from one of the last batches of Old Taylor made before EHT Jr. died in 1923 was uncorked at my parents' wedding in 1954, and now sits on my family history bookshelf.  The Old Taylor brand is now owned by Buffalo Trace Distillery.

Also distilled at Buffalo Trace Distillery is Blanton's Bourbon, named in honor of Albert Bacon Blanton, my 2nd cousin thrice removed. Unfortunately, I didn't inherit a bottle (empty or otherwise) of his bourbon $$$ !

14 degrees from Rev. Elijah Craig, who is also my 11th cousin, 6 times removed.  He is the only relation in this group for  me, which is unusual!

I was pleased to add a pic and some more detail to the profile of brewer Edward Latham (1839–1905) yesterday.

Born in England, Edward migrated to Australia and, when in Melbourne, found the Carlton brewery on the market. He bought in to the business in partnership with another man, and sold out to the Melbourne Brewing and Malting Co. in 1883.

We are connected to the Scottish brewing families such as the Youngers, McEwans, Hunters, Dudgeons etc (Belhaven Brewery) and so on.

I once knew a lovely but very posh lady. It was only recently that I discovered she was a great granddaughter  of Andrew Usher.(https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Andrew_Usher) who paid for the wonderful Usher Hall in Edinburgh (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Usher_Hall)

I also discovered last year that her husband was a connection, so we now have the Ushers in our tree.

Me and Mr Beam are 18th cousins, 4 times removed. And that is TOO close of a relationship! laugh

Me and booze were not good companions. smiley

Both my parents worked for the Stroh brewery when it was in Detroit. My dad spent the majority of his career as an engineer there.

My distiller ancestors made whiskey in Campbeltown.  Not famous enough-- Although Campbeltown used to be THE place for whiskey.
