Looking for May's in Chiddingstone, Kent, UK. Specifically, father of William May (May-4116) (~1816). Mother was Hannah May

Thanks.

Rob (May-4040)

That's right, however, the christening record does not list the father's name which is what I am after. I am really looking for other ways to find this out, eg. parish chest records for Chiddingstone may have info about a "sponsor" for William etc

I also looked at the Bishops Transcripts for William May 2 July 1815 baptism in Chiddingstone hoping that it had more info, but no details of any father were added. Does anyone have any ideas if the next steps? or any further info?

Thanks,

Rob.

Kent Parish registers list Wiliam's christening as 2 July 1815 Chiddingstone, Kent, the son of Hannah May.

William, a master carpenter, appears to have lived in Chatham ,Kent,  for most of his adult life, particularly "Gun Wharf". This is William with his family in 1851 Census, including mother Hannah, who is listed as a widow.

William Mary 35
Marcy Mary 39
Henry Mary 9
Frances Mary 7
Ann Mary 4
Martha Mary 1
Hannah May 72

Of interest it appears between 1871  & 1881, William enlisted with the Royal Marine Light Infantry as a Master Artificer Soldier.
