Mary's Grandfather ,King James 1V, is my Grandfather 16x removed. Her aunt ,Princess Janet Stewart ,his daughter, is my direct ancestor .
Mary is my 1st cousin 14xs removed, and James Stewart King of Scots is my 14th great grandfather 4 different ways (through 4 other people) it says.

It's a bit confusing, but my dad's mother and father are both Scott's Campbell's, Macdonalds , Gordons & Stewart's etc.
I was just shown I was related to King James (VI) (1) so that would mean I am also related to Mary Queen of Scots.

19 degrees removed, according to Wiki. I don't admire her, but there it is. Elizabeth had excellent judgment and came to her throne at age 25. Mary Stuart had terrible judgment and lost hers at the same age.

I have answered this post before, so it's here somewhere, however, having said that, I would just like to say that Donna Lancaster and myself are 13th cousins once removed, both descendants of Sir James Hamilton, 1st Lord Hamilton.

Mary (Stewart) Queen of Scots - 18° - 4th C 12xR

Mary (Stewart) Queen of Scots is related to me through my Wilson/Lawson/Higginbotham/Noland line. This line seems to be prevalent in many of the "Are you related or connected to" posts. The funny thing is that my dad had a story that our family was related to Mary Queen of Scots & that the father of 2 brothers & a sister who came over at the end of her life was a Gentleman in Waiting to her. The kids, supposedly, wanted their father to come with them, but he chose to stay with his Queen & die as she died. What a story! Turns out that he is also related to Mary Queen of Scots, but my mother is 18° & her 4th C 11xR to my fathers 17° & his 4th C 14xR.

We are direct descendants of Mary Queen of Scots family.  My grandmother was pure Scottish, and her family had a ruby red wine decanter that was one of 12 used in the queen's dining hall.  My youngest sister is now in possession of decanter.  I have been trying to convince her to send it to Sterling castle so it can be displayed on permanent loan in its home
