The Australia Project would love to hear from you in 2024

Question

2024 will be a great year for the Australia Project and we'd love to have you involved:

• Would you like to help add more Australian profiles to WikiTree?
• Would you like to help improve the existing Australian profiles on WikiTree, through sourcing, connecting, writing biographies, fixing data errors?
• Would you like to help locate the thousands of unmarked unsourced Australian profiles and abandoned, unloved Australian orphan profiles, hiding on WikiTree?
• Do you have an interest in indigenous Australians, Australian convicts, immigrants, military veterans, notables?

IF you answered YES to any of those questions, OR, you'd just like to work on your own family tree, while being a part of a group of like-minded Aussies, who love to share resources and try to help each other out with those "curly" questions, THEN we'd love you to join us!  

The only requirements for membership in the Australia Project are that you have signed the Honor code and upgraded to Wiki Genealogist level membership, that you join one of the Australia Project teams, and respond to our annual Project check-in. There are a wide range of Australian topic teams, as well as state teams, and categories and profile improvement teams. 

We use G2G and our Australia Project Google Group for project discussions and announcements. Plus we are on Discord!

I would like to help with Australian_convicts. From my past and research I have found this quite a difficult area since the transportation created a lot of opportunities for transactional relationships and dubious lineage. I myself have 3 or more convict ancestors none of which I'm 100% sure on. Also keen to learn better processes and spend more time at the NSW state library.

2024 will be the 170th anniversary of the Eureka Stockade. It would be great to have more profiles linked to the project Eureka Rebellion. We currently have 230 profiles and 12 pages in Category: Eureka Stockade. Was your realtive there?

I would like to add to the Australian knowledge.  I have written in concert with a cousin in Ireland and his cousin on my Irish connection.  We produced a document that was printed in Grean the Limerick Historical Societies annual magazine.

I have also researched another branch of my family on the upper Murray.  I could add these if it is felt they are warranted.

Hello Margaret, I am interested in helping with the Australia Project.  I have an extensive family tree incorporating all states but mainly NSW & Vic.  There are also a few convicts involved.

Yes, I am interested in being a part of this project, but until I get settled in Wikitree I need to put my energy in to editing the profiles of the people I have created on the tree.  It's great that this project exists. Thank-you!
