is there a page defining the icons used?

Some of the symbols aren't obvious to me.  It could be age or eyesight.  I try hovering but I'm often confused.  I just realized that what look like handcuffs are binoculars, and forget the DNA symbols: worse than deciphering a garment care label

Have you tried hovering over the symbols with the mouse? In many cases, if you briefly position the mouse over the symbol, a small bit of text will appear that will provide additional information towards what a particular item is intended to represent.

Also, can you be more specific as to where these particular symbols or icons are appearing? There's a standard default WikiTree view, which has a certain number of symbols and icons you might be referring to, then there are those associated with the WikiTree Browser Extension, or the BEE, and each of the extensions has the potential of changing or adding to the symbols and icons you might be seeing. So let us know if you've added any extensions like BEE and it will better help us direct you to the proper help file.
