Hello:

I'm new to the DNA tools at GED Match and am trying to sort out my results in the Eurogenes model. I was particularly surprised by Iberian and Slavic results in my Ancestry DNA test and am trying to learn and dig deeper to understand.

Thank you advance for any help you can provide and please feel free to talk me through how all of this works!

My background is:

Paternal Grandfather: Northern England (Yorkshire), Danish, Prussian, Dutch, Irish

Paternal Grandmother: Scottish, German, Anglo-Irish

Maternal Grandfather: German

Maternal Grandmother: German and Irish

Here are my results:

You have substantial South Asian ancestry. A Romanichal ancestor or an actual Indian via your British ancestry?

Hi: That one was a HUGE surprise. All of my English ancestors emigrated to the U.S. in the early nineteenth century so I don't think they are the source of the South Asian ancestry. I don't know too much about the history of Romanichal movements across Europe - how else could that be in there?
Roma (Gypsies) live in every European country. I was assuming you might have Romanichal (English Roma) ancestry but actually it could've come from somewhere else. Some English people have Indian ancestry from the British Raj era.
