Anyone interested in helping with the Madockawando project?

I thought it would be interesting to start putting together Indigenous profiles and perhaps find DNA links and other relationships moving forward.

Not really sure how to start but it's something that interests me. I know it's going to be hard but it's worth putting together the known indigenous/ french or European marriages and their descendants.

I wanted to start with Madockawando because he is in my line.

Madockawando’s profile could use some love.  The profile sources are pretty much compilations like Wikipedia or information on totally unrelated people, not contemporaneous records.  Although he does not appear in history until late in his life, there are some records available.
Thank you for all the great feedback.
this one doesn't fall under Québécois tag Jason, wrong place.
Well, during the Indian wars, they frequently visited Quebec for allied support.

ou en français si vous préférez? Eh bien, pendant les guerres indiennes, ils visitaient fréquemment le Québec pour obtenir le soutien des alliés.

lol, in that case, they visited Canada, not Québec, since the St-Lawrence valley French colony was called Canada.  Québec was just the city.  But visiting us isn't like living here, so my point stands.  Québécois project deals with people who lived here.  Have lots of cousins who were Acadian, and a couple of known native ancestresses myself, as well as Acadian ancestry along with the ones who came to this side of the mountains.  laugh

Yes. I’m one of them. Your cousin.

lol, indeed, hi cousin laugh

Jason, you need to work with the Native Americans project as they have expertise in Native research.  He is PPP by the Acadians because his daughter married a prominent Acadian.  He was an important Native American in his own right.  Please read through [[Smith-32867|Jilliane Smith's]] comments on his profile and reach out to her.  Please copy one of the Acadian leaders on correspondence, you can use my Wikitree-ID Bourque-573.  Please do not make any changes to any of the Natives in the Acadian project without specific discussion first. That said, he does need to have names cleaned up and a better biography of his life written.  And some sources for dates would be a great contribution!  I look forward to hearing from you.

He is already protected by Acadian and Native American projects, perhaps you should contact them? I’m sure they always welcome new members.

All great projects but I was concentrating on the Wabanaki confederacy in correlation with French Acadian ties or European mixes in the north east.

Thank you for your suggestions.
Hi Jason!  It's great that you're interested in working on this type of research.  Both the Acadian and Native American projects need to be involved in this discussion, as the profile is Project Protected by both.  Collaboration is always the best solution, when you aren't sure how to start something.  It would be a good idea to discuss what you're wanting to do with them to see if it can be part of their Project, like a Topic or Themed Team.
Thanks for the star Amy
