I am Astrid, active member of the DRP and challenge coordinator of the DRP and about to start an "in between challenge" at the DRP, to finnish this year and jump into 2020. :)

It will be about mapping famous cartographers (born in the 16th century) with their roots - of course!! - in nowadays Flanders, Belgium. Your ancestors, you guys, making the Nothern of The Netherlands during that time!

I will tag you all in the G2G message (and post a link here) if I can and hope you will help us as much as possible. The challenge will be held about from 30-12-2019 till I think the 6th of January.

I did not post a G2G invite yet but I will tag you guys and hope you will give us a hand as well as.

Currently in the UK project a team of genealogists is working on a definitve list of place names according to the different administrative divisions of the countries the ma(k/d)e up the UK. they are using categories and are cleaning up non standard place names

I think the Belgian_roots team should do the same I will prepare a draft document and table by sept 1st

I am working on Belgian profiles mainly in Eastern Vlaams Brabant, but also Brabant Walloon, and Limburg. Please sign me up if appropriate. Does the project place tags or categories in specific places? (Maybe mention it on this page?) Please let me know any tasks expected or hoped for.

Note that I did not find this project as quickly as the Dutch Roots one using the Wikitree google search.

Nicolas makes good points below regarding location names in Belgium. I've given this some thought and plan to set up a free-space page linked to this one where I'll propose guidance on location fields and geographic categories.

Today I managed to come into the possession of about 100 death annoucements and "bidprentjes" ( rememberamce cards)

Some have a picture of the deceased I will bring on line profiles with data, and scans of cards and the pictures. The are from Merksem (district of Antwerpen). The profiles will have mentions for other people to claim them if they are not part of my family tree DereK Giroulle
