Biography

Amanda (Prudhomme) Pitre has French origins.

Marie Amanda Prudhomme, daughter of Cleophas Prudhomme and Eugenie Pitre, was born in Louisiana in 1862.[1]

She married Arthur Pitre in 1877[2] and had one child, Theodore Lucien Pitre (1878-1897).[3] She and Arthur Pitre apparently divorced, as both apparently remarried within a few years.

According to the census of 1900, in 1882 she married Clement Darbonne, and she had had ten children, seven then living.

  2. Cleophas Darbonne (1885-before 1900)
  3. Lidia Darbonne (1887-1948)[4]
  4. Edvol Darbonne (1888-1939)[5]
  5. Maurice Darbonne (1891)

  7. Dallas Darbonne (1895)
  8. Thea Darbonne (1898)
  9. Jason Darbonne (1899)

In 1900 they lived in St. Landry Parish.[6]

By 1920 she was widowed and living with her youngest daughter in Calcasieu Parish.[7]

She died sometime after the census of 1920, probably in Calcasieu Parish, Louisiana.
