Biography
Martha Dale was born in 1725 to her parents John Dale and Elizabeth McKnitt in Somerset Co., Maryland. Her father, John Dale, bequeathed to Martha, at his death, a "Negro" slave to be passed down mother to children.

Martha Dale's grandfather was the original immigrant to this country from England. Later, in the early 1800's, it would be Adam Dale that encouraged the Whaley family to move to the middle Tennessee area and the town of Liberty in what was to become DeKalb county. She was the Aunt of Adam Dale. (needs Source)
