The will of Hans Kierstede, "Chirugeon," was dated March 3, 1712. In it he left 5 shillings to his son Hans, and gives everything else to his "kind and loving friend, Gerrit Onkelboght, of New York, Silversmith." He added a codicil March 3, 1712. He died Feb. 5, 1738, and was "probably buried at Kipsburg" (DDC:172). The will was proved March 9, 1728. Gerrit Onkelboght was a brother-in-law of Hans Kierstede as they had married sisters. Gerrit's wife was Elizabeth Van Schaick, sister of Dina Van Schaick, wife of Hans Kierstede (Rec.59:14-5). Full abstract. Witnesses were Marius Tiebout, Laurens Cornellisen. I need to figure out why the mother's profile is PPP. If the mother's profile is still protected when you get done, just ask to have her connected to the son.
Note: When citing the New York church records, please use the the transcripts published in Vol. 2 of the Collections of NYGBS (compiled by Evans, published in 1901) rather than just citing a modern Dutch database (as was done on this profile). Citing the Dutch databases for New York events gives some folks the mistaken impression that their ancestors were living in the Netherlands
