Biography

Elizabeth Honor was born about 1595 (assuming she was 20 at marriage). Her birth place is uncertain, but it was likely to be Little Missenden, Buckinghamshire, England, where she later married Nathaniel Biscoe. Her father was Henry Honor. [1]

Elizabeth married Nathaniel Biscoe on October 21, 1615 in Little Missenden, Buckinghamshire, England.[2] [1]

Elizabeth emigrated from England to Massachusetts Bay Colony with her husband in 1639.[3]

She was buried on November 20, 1642 in Watertown, Massachusetts Bay Colony.

Elizabeth the wife of Nathaniel Biscoe buried 20 (9) 1642 at Watertown, Massachusetts.[4][1]

She is presumed to have been buried at the Old Burying Place in Watertown. [5] After her death, her husband returned to England.[6]

Children

Elizabeth and Nathaniel's known children were:[1]

  1. Mary, bp. 16 Sep 1619; m. Thomas Broughton son of Edward of London; 9 children
  2. John, b. 1622, bp. 13 Jun 1623
  3. Sarah, bp. 7 May 1626 Little Missenden; d. Feb 1692/3; m. William Bond; 9 children
  4. Nathaniel, bp. 18 May 1629, Little Missenden

Research Notes

Considered baptism records: An Elizabeth Honnour, daughter of Henrye Honnour was christened on March 21, 1609, at LIttle Missenden, Buckinghamshire, England;[7] With her marriage taking place in 1615, this Elizabeth would be too young.

Possible Baptisms: FindAGrave (as of 2.1.24) uses the date from a baptism for Elizabeth Honor, daughter of Henry, bp 16 Jan 1597[/8?][8] but adjusts the year to 1596. Another possibility in the same location would be 3 August 1595, daughter of Nicholas.[9]

The father here is sourced from Ellery Bicknell Crane, Historic Homes and Institutions and Genealogical and Personal Memoirs of Worcester County. Is this considered a reliable source? It mentions that her father Henry Honor died in 1623 in Little Missenden. I did a search on Ancestry, but didn't find a will.

Is there any basis for Henry as the father other than location/name?

I detached Elizabeth from Elizabeth Raunce as her mother since she married Henry Honor in 1604. As you say, Ellery Crane says her father was Henry, but this isn't supported by any credible evidence I've seen. Henry and Elizabeth were surely the parents of an Elizabeth baptized in 1609 in Great Missenden, where they were married. It's unlikely Elizabeth (Honor) Bisco/Briscoe was baptized in Little Missenden, as suggested, since the parish register appears complete through the period she was plausibly born. William Honor had children baptized there at the right time, but no Elizabeths. I also don't see any likely Honor wills that would help.

There are a couple of baptisms in Leighton Buzzard, Bedfordshire which is about 20 miles away from Little Missenden, in case anyone wants to investigate.

Elizabeth daughter of Henry 16 Jan 1597, and 3 Aug 1595 daughter of Nicholas.

I found a 1597 baptism for an Elizabeth, daughter of Henry Honor, but it's in Leighton Buzzard, 24 miles away from Little Missenden.
