Biography

Daughter of John & Priscilla (Mayo) Stocking - Descendant of Mayflower Passengers William & Mary Brewster. Marcy Stocking Needham is a direct descendant of Elder William Brewster, a passenger on the Mayflower.

Birth

First Name could be Mercy according to some sources. Grandmother's first name was Mercy, and tradition usually followed Mother's Mother's name for a first name. Also had a daughter named Mercy. Need better documentation/proof of first name since spelling wasn't all that accurate in the 1700s.

"Marcey" is recorded in a baptismal record on 8 Sep 1754^[1]

"Marcy" is recorded as b. 6 Sep 1755 in the Barbour Collection^[2]

Since her parents, John and Priscilla (Mayo) Stocking were married in January of 1753, and the second child, Timothy, was baptised in June of 1756, there is nothing here to support one date over the other.
