Willem Huycken (or Hoecken) was a tailor. He is assumed to have been born in the Netherlands. He immigrated to New Netherland in 1663.[1] He married Annetje Andries Willjard. They probably married in the Netherlands in 1663 or earlier, before emigrating. In New Netherland, they settled first in Flatlands on Long Island. Willem was recorded as a member of the Reformed Dutch Church of Flatlands in 1675. The family removed to Brooklyn in about 1677, when he was recorded as a member of the Reformed Dutch Church of Brooklyn.[2][3]
He took the oath of allegiance in Brooklyn in 1687. He bought one half of Cornelis Lambertse Cool's patent at Gowanus of Paulus Vanderbeek, he selling the other one half to Cornelis Gerretse Van Duyn. (The Huycken part was afterwards owned by Anthony Hulst, and the Van Duyn part by Peter Wyckoff.) This patent passed from Cool to Bredenbent, and from the latter to Vanderbeek. Issue:- Jacob, bp. Dec. 29, 1666, in N. Y.; Jannetje, bp. Jan.28, 1683, in Brooklyn; Margaret, bp. July 29, 1688, in Brooklyn; Marretje, m. Denyse Gerretse Van Duyn; Machtel or Matilda, m. Cors Gerretse Van Duyn; Annetje; Geertruy; Catharine; and Elizabeth. Signed his name "Wyellem Heocken,"" [4]
There are scant records of this couple and their family. Their known children are:[5]
Jacob, baptized in New Amsterdam on 29 December 1666
Machteltje, born about 1669
Marytje, born about 1672
Annetje, born about 1675
Geertruy, born about 1678
Catrina, born about 1681
Jannetje, baptized at Brooklyn on 28 January 1683
Elisabeth, baptized at Brooklyn on 29 April 1686
Margriet, baptized at Brooklyn on 29 July 1688.
Willem and Annetje made a joint will on 27 March 1687. The title on the record of the will in the Collections of the New York Historical Society identifies it as the will of William Huyksen and states that it was "recorded for Simon Aertsen, and Antie Aertsen." The record states:[6]
"In the Name of God, Amen. In the year 1687, this 27 day of March, appeared before me Jacobus Vandewater, Public Notary, admitted in the Town of Brookland, in Kings Co., and there residing, Mr. Wm. Huyksen, Anntie Andies Williard, his wife, inhabitants of Gowanus, being known to me, and both being in perfect health, goeing and standing, and of full understanding, and not willing to depart this life before they have disposed of their temporal estate." They made the survivor of the two the sole heir to all the estate, but if the survivor remarry, one half is to be given to the children, namely, Machtell, Mary, Anna, Gretie, Catharina and Elizabeth, and such other children as they may yet have. Written at the house of the testators in the presence of John Jansen, Hendrick Sleght, Jacobus Vandewater.
Proved by the oath of above witnesses, and confirmed by Governor Benjamin Flecher, January 25, 1693/4.
Willem died before 3 January 1691, when he was not among the parents listed as consenting to the marriage of his daughter Machtelje.[7] On 19 June 1691 "Annetie Anderies Welijaerd, widow of Willm Huijke," married "Simon Aerse Ter Haert, widower of Geertie Cornelisen" in the Reformed Dutch Church of Flatbush.[8]

One variant of this profile prior to merge, as imported from Ancestry by Dave Newman, had the following data:
Born 1643 in Gowanus, Kings, New York, United States
Died March 1, 1709 in Gowanus, Kings, New York, United States
But those are impossible, given that his daughter was born in 1605. So I am going to remove the data. It is preserved here, in case it can later be found to belong instead to a later descendant.
