Nicholas Carew was born abt 1402.[1] He was the son and heir of Nicholas Carew.[1]
Nicholas Carew held the manors and their lands of Beddington, Bandon, Carshalton, Maytham and Norbury, in Surrey, and Studham, Hertfordshire. He was a Knight of the Shire for Surrey, Sometime Sheriff of Surrey and Sussex, and his father's son and heir. In 1435 he leased the manor of Studham to Sir John Holand, Knt. (his wife's uncle) for three years. As a Lancastrian he was pardoned in 1446 and again in 1455. In 1454 he had a grant of land in Sussex from Thomas, Earl of Arundel. He was summoned, for Surrey, to attend a Great Council in April 1455. He probably fought on the Lancastrian side at the 1st Battle of St. Albans in 1455. His Will was dated 14th November 1456 and proved 10th May 1458 in the Prerogative Court of Canterbury. His wife Margaret survived him. They were both buried in the chapel of St. Nicholas in St. Mary's, Beddington, Surrey.[2]
