Biography

Rachel Hayden was born circa 1695 in Braintree, Massachusetts. She married Samuel Paine Jr., son of Samuel Paine and Mary Penniman, circa 1711 at Braintree, Massachusetts.

She died on 3 October 1739 at Braintree, Norfolk Co., Massachusetts, from an epidemic illness which also killed 5 of her children^[1] After Rachel's death, Samuel Paine married again on 7 July 1741. His second wife was Ruth (Littlefield) Dyer, widow of John Dyer and daughter of Edmund and Elizabeth (Mott) Littlefield.^[2]

SAMUEL IV born Mar 26 1684 at Braintree (Randolph part), married Rachel daughter of Nehemiah Hayden of the same place who died Oct 3 1739 during a virulent epidemic that prevailed in Braintree and vicinity and which carried off five children of Samuel Paine and his wife. He had in all the following children:
