Biography

Born in Waycross, Georgia and reared in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, my heart is in the South. I work in information technology but genealogy is one of my hobbies. If you message me and I don't respond immediately, please don't be offended. I usually run a couple of weeks behind, but I will get back to you.

I am first and foremost a Christian, devoted husband, father, son, brother and grandson. In researching my own family history I eventually branched out and have been working on Southeast Georgia families in general. Hopefully the information that I have posted here will be of some help to others.

Hobbies

I have always been interested in technology, especially computers. That interest led to my career choice. I have worked with computers in some form or fashion since 1990. The Linux operating system captured my attention in 1995, and I have been working with it ever since. I have been a full time Unix and Linux systems administrator since 2001.

As mentioned previously, I also enjoy genealogical research. Uncovering lost family history and solving age-old mysteries is intriguing and fascinating to me. I began my quest to discover my past in the mid 1990's. After taking a break from it for several years, I resumed the hobby in 2010. My activity level ebbs and flows depending on my free time, but I am always on the lookout for clues that may aid in my research.

Another hobby which I recently took up is amateur radio. Many folks know it by the name ham radio. I have always been interested in it, but finally took the plunge and took the required exam to receive my FCC license. I was granted a Technician class license on July 17, 2014 with the call sign KM4DCZ[1]. Since then I have also become a SKYWARN certified storm spotter and have completed several FEMA ICS/NIMS courses. Since I live in an area that sees frequent tornado outbreaks, I want to be able to assist in the community response when such an event takes place.

Hi Allen.

Can you add me to the Trusted List for Ruth Annie (Harris) Highsmith (1876-1941). She is my 2nd paternal grandmother.

Thank you, Tracy

Hi, the Williams tree you have is from a different Williams family. My 3rd great grandfather was Berry H Williams (born around 1820) married to Martha Sweat - his parents were Samuel Williams and Nancy Jones; his grandparents were Samuel Williams and Delilah Neville, his great grandparents were William Williams and Mary Scott Ward, his 2nd great grandparents were Stephen Williams and Elizabeth Lewis. The Sweat come in through his wife Martha Sweat.

However, since Berry's YDNA through a direct male descendant is E-M2 aka Eb1ba which is over 80% African it could be that he was a Sweat. This is a mystery my cousins and I have not been able to solve yet.

Allen,

I reached out to you in a private message about a month ago - my great grandmother is Annie Maud Dixon, daughter of John Jasper Dixon. Unfortunately, I can't move forward with him without your permission, as his is not an open profile. Would love to hear back from you!

- Marlena

Thought I would say hello. It shows we are 6th cousins through the O' Steen's. =)

My profile 12307 and 5146 Jordan should be merged. They are relatives of my father Carlos Reginald Carter 12308.

Later on one of Jordan's daughters marries my mother's brother....but I haven't gotten there yet!!!!

So happy my family tree merged and it was with your information after I added my grandfather Jesse Carter's sister Allie Carter. I was grinning from ear to ear. I was born in Waycross and raised in Riverdale, GA. I also lived in Nashville, TN, so I know where Murfreesboro is. Awesome.
