  • A father's death date (Smith-29597 died 1712) should not be more than nine months before one of his children's birth dates (Smith-109036 born 17 Dec 1712).

This could be a false warning - could you take a look? Thanks!

I received a request to merge Smith-29597 and Smith-6957; I rejected the match for the following reasons.

Smith -6957 is listed as the husband of Elizabeth (Whitfield) Smith — married 1708 in Smithfield Township, Johnston, North Carolina and died 1777 in Johnston, North Carolina. Smith-29597, the son of Mary Warner and John Smith married only once, his spouse was Anne Alexander. Widow Anne (Alexander) Smith then married Henry Willis. Smith-29597 died in Purton, Gloucester, Virginia. The locations of death do not match. The date of birth's have been entered identically for Smith-29597 and Smith-6957; date of deaths and descendants do not match.

The information listed under additional information indeed appears to represent John Smith of Purton, son of Mary Warner and John Smith, however, it does not support the death information and descendants of Smith-6957.

Another thing to look at before a merge can be considered.

Son John Smith does not match Son John Smith on profile https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Smith-6957

Smith-29597 and Smith-6957 appear to represent the same person because: These profiles are clear duplicates with the identical birthdates, same wife, (Ann Alexander, married Febr y 18th 1711). Their son, John Smith was born one year later. The only obvious difference is the death date which is incorrect for Smith-6957 and has no source or reference. Smith-6957 has NO sources and is confusing and cluttering our shared tree. Please accept and complete this merge.
A father's death date (Smith-29597 died 1712) should not be more than nine months before one of his children's birth dates (Smith-109036 born 17 Dec 1712) .

Smith-31730 and Smith-29597 appear to represent the same person because: they have the same birth and death information. Please compare and merge Smith-31730 into Smith-29597 if you agree they are two profiles for the same person. Thank you. Kitty Cooper-1 Smith
