Dennis Darling was previously attached as a son of George Darling and Katherine Unknown, (sometimes shown to be Katherine Gridley). These parents have been removed due to lack of evidence.
ennis Darling: Of Braintree and Mendon and Some of His Descendants 1662-1800 by the Lou and William Martins, published in 2006 states:
"Some researchers have postulated that [Dennis] was related to George Darling of Lynn and Marblehead. George came from Scotland, so this leads to the suggestion that Dennis was also a Scot. We have examined all me proposals we could find for his birth, but have found no one who provides any sound basis for their proposals. Therefore, we make no suggestions regarding his origin." And (on pages 15-16) "Some persons, including Henry Everett Darling, have proposed a relationship between Dennis and George Darling of Lynn and Marblehead. However, there is no credible evidence to support that suggestion. Braintree is not that far from Lynn where George was living, yet we have found no evidence of any contact between them or their descendants. However, there are some interesting coincidences. Both Braintree and Lynn were sites where iron was first produced in New England... [and] ... iron produced in Lynn was transported to Braintree for further manufacture. Another coincidence is the woman Dennis married, Hannah Francis, ... [who] is probably related to John Francis who was also living in Braintree and had previously worked at the Lynn plant. Henry Everett Darling believes this is the connection that proves a relationship of Dennis Darling to George Darling. However, we have not found anything else to show a relationship."[1]

Research notes
A previous version of the profile placed Dennis's birth in Braintree, Yorkshire, England. As Braintree is in Essex, this may have been Braintree, Massachusetts or Yorkshire. However there isn't any known evidence pointing to his place of birth?

Please share a source for the information that "Dennis Darling was born in Braintree, Yorkshire, England in 1640." For one thing, Braintree isn't in Yorkshire; it's in County Essex. Also, as stated in a comment on George Darling's page, there appears to be no evidence supporting the notion that Denice Darling was a son of George Darling, the Scottish prisoner seized at the Battle of Dunbar. George was old enough to have begotten a child in 1640, but if he had offspring then, it's very unlikely that such paternal event took place in England.
What was the basis for showing George Darling and Katherine Gridley as this man's parents? The Dennis Darling Genealogy by the Martins, published in 2006, describes George and Dennis as the immigrant ancestors of two different families. They had earlier published a book on the Descendants of George Darling, so if there was evidence for a connection, one would think they would have discussed it.

Denice Darling-1 and Darling-477 are not ready to be merged because: What is the evidence of the birth place in England? The lengthy book by the Martins, "Denis Darling of Braintree and Mendon and some of the descendants 1662 - 1800" , Murrieta, CA, 2006, . 721 p., does find any creditable evidence for the location of his birth.
