Cornelis married 1 Neeltje Rens van der Meer. Children: Trijntje, Lijsbet, 1 other.
Cornelis married 2 Lijsebet Reijnderts on Jan 10 1733 in Venhuizen. Children: Cornelis & Louw (July 25 1734), Antje (Aug 14 1735), Crelisjen (Feb 24 1737), Cornelis (March 22 1739), Dieutjen (Sept 3 1741).
Cornelis' son Cornelis (1739) married Aafjen Luijtjes Appelboom on March 6 1762 in Venhuizen. Children Antje (Sept 18 1763), Dieuwertje (April 8 1765), Cornelisje (Sept 28 1766, married Reinder Cornelisz Pijl), Cornelis (Dec 13 1767, married Grietje Cornelis de Boer), Luijtjen (March 16 1769), Luijtjen (Aug 26 1770, married Lijsbet Hendriks Davidzon), Dieuwtje (Nov 7 1774, married Coenrat Joannisz Warnaar), Render (May 7 1777). They lived in Venhuizen.
A notary document in 1741 lists Cornelis Hermens Dekker as being on the town council of Venhuizen (raad / waarschap).
The will of Neeltje Rens van der Meer was read on Oct 21 1731. Her husband Cornelis Hermansz Dekker is listed here. Her three children are listed as Kornelis, Neeltje and Dina. Since everything dovetails perfectly into this being our Trijn's parents, I suspect that one of the girls was actually Trijn. The will itself doesn't name the children; I don't know where their names were found. According to the will, Neeltje's three children inherit her clothes, bed and silver to be divided equally when the youngest turns 18. If any of them dies before the age of 18, it is to be divided equally among the survivors. Neeltje's brother Klaas Rensz van der Meer a farmer from de Hout onder Hoogkarspel and her brother-in-law Klaas Jacobsz Sop the burgermeester (mayor) of Venhuizen are also listed.
I found 3 Hermens on the Venhuizen Reformed Church membership list of 1709. None would have been our Kornelis' father according to naming patterns. I found only 2 on the 1698 list, and they made no sense either. The most likely town Kornelis came from would have been Hem, which is right next door to Venhuizen. [1]
What makes Cornelis' ancestry particularly problematic are that the baptism and marriage records only start in 1731 and Cornelis is never listed with a patronymic in baptism or marriage records. Therefore it's a bit of a guess as to his lineage. Also frustrating is the fact that the only membership list in the 1700's that a Cornelis Dekker appears on is a list of 16 men named Cornelis undated. There is no Cornelis Jacobsz, Jansz, Cornelisz or Claasz making profession of faith at the right time either. And most of the men from about 1700 on used last names. So the name Cornelis Dekker ought to have come up. But it didn't. And none of his children with Neeltje seem to have made profession of faith in Venhuizen, so we can't confirm any of them other than Trijntje.
Jan Klaasz Dekker (married 1732) and Jan Jacobsz Dekker were having children in the 1730's in Venhuizen along with Cornelis. And a Pieter Jansz Dekker married in 1730 (he had no children here). There was a Crelis Jacobsz making profession of faith in Venhuizen on December 20 1698, but this is very early to be our Cornelis. The best conclusion that can be come to is that there was a main Dekker family in Venhuizen and Cornelis was not a part of that family. This would mean he came from somewhere else. And the later people with a Cornelis in their name would be relatives coming from that same place.
People listed with the last name Dekker in the earliest lists from Venhuizen, and years on membership lists:
There are some notary documents that list a Cornelis Hermansz Dekker and Neeltje Rens vd Meer in Venhuizen in the 1730's described here. And a Cornelis was baptized by a Hermen Cornelis in 1699 in Hem; other family members later have Dekker written as a last name. This would have to be our Cornelis - the pieces do fit together well. He would then have been a son of Cornelis Elbertsz Decker of Venhuizen, brother of Harcke Elbertsz Decker of Hem, whose baptism record we actually have found.
