Robert Oliver was born in 1738 in Boston, Massachusetts Bay. His parents were Lancelot Oliver and Mary Walker. [citation needed]

Robert, of Rutland District, married Mary Walker on October 13, 1763 in Worcester, Massachusetts. [1] [2]

He subscribed to his last will and testament on May 9, 1811.[5] In it, he names sons William Oliver and Robert Oliver, daughters Anna Quigley, Christian ("wife of William Burnham"), Margaret Waterman, Eleanor ("wife of Thomas Lord"), Mary ("who married in New England (long since deceased)," and Isabel ("wife of James Brown"), and grandchildren Lancelot Oliver (son of William), Mary Oliver (daughter of William), Minerva Oliver, Eliza Oliver, and Robert Oliver. He also names Elizabeth G. Oliver and Catharine Oliver but does not say what the relationship is. The will was recorded in the August 1811 Term of the Washington County (Ohio) Court of Common Pleas.
