Biography

Jesse was b. Cane Creek, N.C, Dec. 3, 1782, d. 1836; m. Sept. 19, 1806 Sarah Whinery, b. Sept. 21, 1789, d. 1858/59. Mr. Doane was a farmer and school teacher. The family moved to Friends Station (Lost Creek Monthly Meeting), Tenn., the certificate of removal of their membership in the Soc. of Friends to Lost Creek Monthly Meeting, Jefferson Co., Tenn., being dated Jan. 25, 1832. The family traveled in a covered wagon from Cane Creek to attend the Quaker Quarterly Meeting held at Friends Station and decided to remain there permanently, buying a farm four miles from Friends Sta. in Rocky Valley, Tenn. The log cabin built next to the Quaker Meeting House for Jesse to use as a school house was still standing in 1950. Children, all b. at Cane Creek, N.C. except the youngest :

• Fact: http://familysearch.org/v1/LifeSketch Jesse was born 3 Dec 1782 in Cane Creek, NC. He married Sarah WHINERY on 19 Sep 1806. Mr Doane was a farmer and a school teacher. The family moved to Friends Station (Lost Creek Monthly Meeting), Tennessee. The certificate of removal in the Society of Friends to Tennessee was dated 25 Jan 1832.

The family traveled in a covered wagon from Cane Creek to attend the Quaker Quarterly Meeting at Friends Station, and decided to remain there permanently. They bought a farm 4 miles from Friends Station, Rocky Valley, Tennessee.
