Alicia (Minchin) Mahon was born in Ireland.

Alicia Minchin was born on 20 September 1794. She was the daughter of William Minchin and Rebecca Minchin.

She married Thomas Mahon in 1812[1].

They had four sons and one daughter:

  1. Charles Mahon (b. 1818, d. 1850)
  2. William Mahon (b. abt. 1821, d. 16 Oct 1837)
  3. John Minchin Mahon (b. abt. 1823, m. Louisa Gabbett and had issue 3 boys, 1 girl, d. 1 Jan 1877)
  4. Thomas Mahon (b. 9 Apr 1832, m. Katharine Elizabeth Murray and had issue 3 boys 5 girls, d. 22 Aug 1879)
  5. Rebecca Mahon (b. abt. 1827, d. unmarried 1850)[2]

They lived at Green Lawn, Ennis, County Clare, Ireland. Her husband held the office of High Sheriff of County Clare in 1812 and was also a JP.

Her mother Rebecca died in December 1829 and her father William in May 1831.

Sadly her son William died at their home in 1837 at the age of 16. Her husband Thomas passed away in 1847 at the age of 59.

After her husband's death, the following was published on page 1 of the Limerick Chronicle dated 29 September 1847:

Important and Extensive Auction.
AT GREEN LAWN, ENNIS,
ON THE 15TH AND 16TH DAYS OF OCTOBER, Of First Class Household Furniture, Glass, China Ware, Delph, Milch Cows, Phaeton, Plated Harness, &c. &c.
JOHN STAMER
HAS been honoured with instructions by the Representatives of the late THOMAS MAHON, Esq., to Sell by UNRESERVED AUCTION,
AT GREEN LAW HOUSE, ENNIS,
On FRIDAY AND SATURDAY the 15th and 16th days of October, comprising every requisite for Parlour, Drawing-room and Bed-rooms. Each Department is fully furnished, and contains every desirable requisite.
The Pantry contains Sheffield Plated Ware, Glass, China, also a very handsome service of Coloured Stone China, Kitchen Requisites, &c., &c.
The Out-door Effects consist of Two Valuable Milch Cows, Excellent Harnesses, Horse, 5 years old; Bridles and Saddles, Two Sets of Harness, short time in use; Dublin built Phaeton, Mangle, &c., with a large collection of other property too numerous to mention; the bounds of an Advertisement precludes the possibility of particularising minutely the property to be sold. The entire are in first-rate order, and will be sold perfectly unreserved.
PROGRAMME OF SALE.
First Day - The Furniture of the Drawing-room, Parlour, and three principal Bed-rooms, with Glass, China, and Plated Ware. The Phaeton, Harness, Horse, and Cows, at 3 o'clock precisely.
Second Day - The remaining Bed-room Furniture, Kitchen Requisites, and all unsold property.
Terms of Sale - Cash, or approved bills for sums over £10, payable at the Ennis Provincial Bank, Stamp and Interest Added.
Purchaser to pay Auction Fees. Sale at 12 sharp.

Alicia passed way in March 1851.
