Hello,

Congratulations, you've been a WikiTree member for a month! We're glad you're here. A few tips to help you dive in even deeper:

Check out Beyond the Basics of WikiTree for a guide on some of our more advanced features such as Projects, Categories, and Merging.

We're very active on our social sites and we have an excellent blog where you'll find our monthly newsletter as well as tips, interviews with our members and guest posts from others in the genealogy community.

As always, I'm here to help if you have any questions!

Guy ~ WikiTree Mentor

Hello ,

Now that you have had a little time to try WikiTree, there are a few more features you may find useful.

Ideas on what to include in a profile can be found in Styles and Standards, including some tips on writing biographies.

If you need to describe an event, an heirloom or a location relevant to your research, you may like to learn about Free Space Profiles.

Lastly, sometimes you'll run into unresponsive profile managers. We have a process for resolving those unfortunate situations.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask via my profile page.

Hello

Thank you for signing the Honor code. Collaboration, accurate information and good sources are the basis for a great WikiTree.

By signing the Honor Code you're telling others you are a responsible Wiki genealogist.

Feel free to ask me via my profile page if you have any questions.

Have a nice journey on Wikitree,

Guy - Wikitree Mentor / Leader

P.S. I've found the best way to research my family in WikiTree is to post what I know and connect to existing profiles when I find them. That way, you can ask questions in G2G from the profile you're stuck on & folks will know what you have already.

For basic info on WikiTree, check out Intro to WikiTree. For genealogy, check out this page.

Cheers, Liz

Hi again!

I’m so glad you found us. I just confirmed you as a member (once you sign the Honor Code, you’ll be a full member – aka a Wiki Genealogist). An important aspect of WikiTree is providing sources for information (even if it’s just "Aunt Louisa told me in 1984...") – my profile page has a link to Sources Resources, where I’ve tried to provide an overview of source information.

Give G2G or me a holler if you get stuck on anything, and thank you for joining our collaborative tree. Remember that our mission is to build a global tree with just one profile per person, so please look for duplicates before adding a profile.

Enjoy!

Years ago my great aunt gave my mom a family tree she worked on. Recently I have gotten an interest in updating and expanding it.

I am new to genealogy, and I am hooked.

Welcome Michelle!

As a guest, you can search for your ancestors and participate in G2G, where you can ask questions that you didn't find an answer to in WikiTree Help (see the "Help" drop-down menu at upper right–for additional links that may be of use, please click my name and check out the links I list under my "Greeter" section–especially the Sources links and the link to Debby, a former greeter, who also has helpful information on her profile page).

If you would like to join WikiTree, and help with our mission of one tree, please read the Honor Code, volunteer, and post a comment on your profile page; we'll be glad to add you to the WikiTree community.

Happy Hunting!
