Hello,

Congratulations, you've been a WikiTree member for a month! We're glad you're here. A few tips to help you dive in even deeper:

Check out Beyond the Basics of WikiTree for a guide on some of our more advanced features such as Projects, Categories, and Merging.

We're very active on our social sites and we have an excellent blog where you'll find our monthly newsletter as well as tips, interviews with our members and guest posts from others in the genealogy community.

As always, I'm here to help if you have any questions!

Hi!

Just checking in with a few quick tips:

Looking to make more connections or find more information about an ancestor but not sure how to do that? Try categorizing your profiles.

Not sure what to put into a biography? Here are some Bio Ideas. Also, make sure that the biographies match WikiTree’s Styles and Standards.

If you come across an unresponsive manager, we have a process for those unfortunate situations.

If you have any questions, please ask!!

P.S. You can check out WikiTree's surname pages for existing profiles - such as http://www.wikitree.com/genealogy/Bell (are you looking for a Mr. Abner or Abner Bell?). Either way, I've found the best way to research my family in WikiTree is to post what I know and connect to existing profiles when I find them. That way, you can ask questions in G2G from the profile you're stuck on & folks will know what you have already.

Cheers, Liz

Welcome Jim!

I'm glad you found us. To become a full member (aka Wiki Genealogist), you’ll need to sign the Honor Code. For a list of helpful links, click my name and check out the "Greeter" section-especially the Sources links and the link to Debby, a former greeter, who has helpful information on her profile page also.

If you get stuck on anything and can't find an answer in WikiTree Help or How to Use WikiTree, you can post to G2G or give me a holler.

Thank you for joining our collaborative tree! Remember that our mission is to build a global tree with just one profile per person, so please look for duplicates before adding a profile.

Enjoy!

I've been unable to trace my father's family past my great grandfather Abner and hoping this site will yield better results.

I agree with the mission statement and nine rule
