Alice Ebell, daughter of Sergeant Peter Ebel of New York, widow of William Trotter. She is shown to have been a widow at July 1676 and also on 27 Nov 1671 after which date she married Thomas Hatfield. Court and Mortgage records in NY City Clerk's Office show she was a daughter of Clara Ebel.[1]
An ancestry tree calls her Elsje, dau of Peter Ebel and Clara Hendricus. [2]
Alice Trotter, aka Elsie, travelled by sea to Boston in 1669 with her husband. In 1670, according to court records, she sued the ship's captain for return consigned property for which freight had been paid. Her husband had evidently died in the meantime since she sued on her own account. She then married Thomas Hatfield in 1671. Court records reference her as Elsie and Alice. The Records do not name the husband who traveled with her.[1][3]

The New York courts evidently continued to do business as New Amsterdam for some time after the English take-over.
