Note N289He was a prominent man in Newton County. There was quite a discussion about the moving the court House of Newton County to a central location. This would have been half mile south of the Isham Holingsworth place on the road from Decatur to Newton. This is a very broken, hilly place and some thought not very suitable for a town. However, some town lots were sold. At old fashioned barbeque was given and a great amount of people attended. However, when vote was taken the court house remained in Decatur. This happened between 1842 and 1845.
