Andrew Stuart McLean was born in Montreal, Quebec on April 19, 1948[1]. He was the son of Andrew Thompson McLean OBE and Margaret Patricia Godkin. Both his parents were born in Australia and emigrated to Canada in 1947.

Stuart died in Toronto, Ontario on February 15, 2017[2]. He had announced that he had been diagnosed with melanoma in 2015.
