Currently, we live in Middle Tennessee, approximately an hour from Cannon and DeKalb counties, where our family lived through the last 3-4 generations. I'm just a typical working mom of 2, one in college and one on the way this fall. This means I'll have more time for WIKITREE -yay!

As an only child, I have always loved my extended family. As my parents aunts and uncles have passed away, it seems our family is shrinking considerably. I love telling stories about them, and find that my new found love of genealogy is a way to pay tribute to them. I have been very blessed with a loving and supportive family.

Lori,

You've probably been hard at work adding family members and getting connected to those that are already here. You should have at least a few profiles that you manage now. You've covered a lot of ground the past few weeks. So, this week we're going to look at how to work with your Watchlist: How to Manage Your Watchlist

We are also going to give you just a few more tools that can take you even deeper into the WikiTree forest without getting lost: How to Dig a Little Deeper

As always, your questions are welcome!

Lori--

You've been here for three weeks now! We hope you're profiles are starting to come together and that you've enjoyed getting to know all of us a little better. You're probably getting a good feel for the collaborative nature of WikiTree by now. We know that collaboration isn't always easy. So, we've put together a few pointers that can make working in this type of environment a little easier: How to be a Successful WikiTreer. As always, your questions are welcome!

You are now a confirmed member, and you can get started adding your family members. As we've said, WikiTree is quite different from other genealogy sites. So, we've put together a guided tour to help you learn how to use it. Your first stop is How to Start Climbing Our Tree.

Tomorrow, you'll hear from a Mentor who will check in to see how you're doing and answer any questions you might have.

Next week, you'll get another message with your next stop on the guided tour.

You can also meet some of our members by joining in the fun with our Question of the Week in the G2G forum: Have you found any unusual occupations in your family tree?

Welcome!

Shirley

Hi and welcome to WikiTree!

WikiTree is different from other genealogy websites because our goal is to have one profile per person. That means we will all share ancestors and work together as a collaborative team! The Honor Code helps keep everything functioning smoothly as we work on our SHARED tree.

You should have received an email with links you can use to get started. Once you confirm your email address, you'll have an option to volunteer to add information to WikiTree. Begin with tags for your own profile. Tags are surnames, locations, concepts, etc. in which you're interested.

When you volunteer, one of our Greeters will confirm your membership. Then you'll be able to add to the tree!

We're really glad you're here!
