Communication Preferences:
I am interested in communicating with
cousins and anyone else with an interest in genealogy.
Here is my family tree.
Particularly interested to hear from US descendants of James Clafton (1830-) (Clafton-13) born 4 Apr 1830 in Yorkshire, England, and emigrated to the USA, landing in New York on 17 Aug 1859. Also James twin brother John Clafton (1830-). Particularly interested in descendants of Claftons that lived in Archangel, Russia in the 1800s. Also interested to hear from anyone who can contribute Clafton family trees to Wikitree or to me for the Space:Clafton_Name_Study. We are probably all related somewhere along the line!
If you have the Clafton surname in your tree or you are interested in the Clafton surname please contact me about the Clafton One Name Study.
If you are not active on Wikitree, I will gladly accept family tree information and associated research material and create the profiles myself. Please contact me via steve at clafton dot net.
Biography
Steve was born in 1954 in Sydney and lived with his parents at 129 Barton St, Monterey, NSW.
At the time, his father worked for the then Commonwealth Department of Civil Aviation (DCA) as a professional radio operator at Mascot airport. Starting at the beginning of 1959 his father was posted to various airports around the country as the airport officer-in-charge (OIC) and so the family moved around (a standard posting was three years):
Albany, WA, 1959-61, 263 Albany Hwy
Broome, WA, 1962-64, 1 Forrest St
Carnarvon, WA, 1965, 127 Olivia Tce
Ceduna, SA, 1966-1968, 26 Poynton St
From 1969 his father was posted to Adelaide airport, so the family moved to Adelaide and settled there at 15 Keen Ave, Seaview Downs, SA. The family’s choice of Adelaide was to give Steve access to senior schooling. Steve left the family home and lived at unit 2/43 Addison Rd, Warradale in about 1976.
Steve built a house at 35 West St (now 51 Gully Rd), Seacliff Park, SA, and moved in on the 1st of May 1980. Thirty years later, after raising a family and a long career in Information Technology, Steve bought a house at 4A College St (aka unit 1/4 College St), Glenelg, SA in 2010 and retired one year later on 1st July 2011.
Steve’s maternal side is descended from these Australian convicts:
Ancestry Thrulines confirms relationship (2nd cousin 1x removed, 62cM, 7 segments) between Steve Clafton, descended via William J.G. Brackam, and CT descended via Heather Blanche (Tomlinson) Brackam, with George Brackham (1868-1947) and Annie Elizabeth (Green) Brackam (1879-1955) as MRCAs.
